Funny thread on Japanese image board Futaba Channel. At the request of his mom, the poster was digging in his yard in preparation for creating a flower bed. While digging he uncovered a Ninja Crow gashapon figure. He only had a vague recollection of what the character might have been from, and the time frame (poster says it would have been from when he was in kindergarten). Curious and wanting to refresh his memory, he posted a picture of the soil-stained figure and asked for identification. It was identified pretty quickly, with the Ninja Crow's official model sheet even being posted for reference. From there it segued into some general KNT discussion. These image boards do not keep their topics around for long, so it will be gone soon. But I saved a copy of it for archival.

The poster estimated about 20 years, which is just when KNT would have been on the air and these figures would have been available.

An old toothbrush and some warm soapy water, and he'll probably be as good as new.

That is so cool, felineki! I'm glad you're saving a copy of it. It would be nice if someone could translate what's being said, Google's translation sucks and my Japanese isn't that great nowadays. :C

Someone should write a fanfic about this lucky crow. Buried alive for twenty years (I'm guessing), he miraculously survives and... I don't know. Vows to take over Edoropolis singlehandedly? Swears revenge on those that buried him? Is a zombie but eats pizza instead of brains? I'm not very good at this. Get on it, you fanfic writers.

Edit: Bonus points if he's not an actual Ninja Crow like on the show, but still a toy. I just reminded myself of that scene in Toy Story when all the mutilated/mistreated ones are coming out of the sandbox and stuff.

So...tempting...

And so a hand rose out from the charred earth, revitalized by the passing storm overhead. Cracks of light and plasma streak across the sky as the hand palms at the surrounding dirt, gripping and sinking its claws before pulling more of its self out. Slowly, more emerges to greet the raging storm. Beak, shoulder, arms torso, legs, and feet all rise up one by one, caked with dirt and soiled with neglect. It's eyes glow fiercely, glaring out as they recalled the events that lead to its slumber. An tormented cry pierces the howling wind, gripping as its feathers as if to try and stop the tormenting flood of memories. But that does not help the seething rage birthed by the figure's past. It stumbles forward, the experimental freak against nature, eying the lights in the distance, only a single word escaping its beak.

"Piiiiiiiizzzzaaaaaaaa"

Surging forward, the feathered remnant makes for the lights with a hurried pace, paying no mind to its own horrible afflictions. It merely repeats the objective over and over, moving with single minded determination. It does not see the figure on the high ledge above, screening it ever since it had popped up out of the ground. The predator, screening its target with a hunter's gaze, swoops from the ledge and dives for the newly risen bird. Swooping it up in its talon, arcing for the thunder ridden skies once more. It grasps tightly at the plastic in its claws, working against the writhing, doomed contraption.

Tigriss: I'll try and translate what I can. Take it with a heaping spoonful of salt, since I'm by no means an expert. I'll add to it as I can. But anyway, here we go:

OP: Today, at the request of my mom, I was digging in the yard in preparation for a horticultural flower bed and this turned up.
If I'm remembering correctly, I think this is from around when I was in kindergarten.
Anyone know the particulars of what franchise and what product this is?
Even though it's been in the ground for over 20 years, I'm surprised it hasn't decomposed. Maybe this sort of thing doesn't decompose.

Reply 1: A character from Cat Ninden Teyandee?

Reply 2: Just a PVC?
If so, there's no way it would decompose.

Reply 3: (Ninja Crow model sheet) It's Teyandee.

Reply 4: It's a Ninja Crow from Cat Ninden Teyandee.

Reply 5: Cat Ninden Teyandee's Karamaru?
Or maybe one of the low-ranking ninjas?

Reply 6: It's one of the Karakara clan's low-ranking ninjas.

Reply 7: That was quick!
Thanks for the info.
Was that the one with the robot ninja cats where the leader could never pilot the giant robot...? Only a vague recollection.
Anyway, nice to know what character this was.
Thanks a lot.

Reply 8: "Or maybe one of the low ranking ninjas?" (Quote of Reply 4)
It says "low" on his stomach...

Reply 9: Why did you bury it?

Reply 10: Teyandee's Famicom game was really fun.
Ah, nostalgia...
(Not sure about this line)

Reply 11: Only took 5 minutes this time?
I thought it was Karamaru at first, too.

Reply 12: Deneb?(?)

Reply 13: (???)

Reply 14: I though it was (???) from "Cyborg 009".

Reply 15: I thought it was a Robotack character.

Reply 16: Looking at the thumbnail I thought it was Ganganjii.(?)

Reply 17: His dialogue with Karamaru on the Nekoza CD was funny.
Shurato references and such.
"Ah, I see. Asshole." and such. (Pun from the KNT Drama CD. "A, naru" = "Ah, I see", "anaru" = "anus")

Reply 18:  "Over 20 years" (Quote of OP)
Speaking of which, it's the 20th Anniversary this year...

Reply 19:

Reply 20: "Deneb?" (Quote of Reply 12)
They do look alike.

Reply 21: "Deneb?" (Quote of Reply 12)
"They do look alike." (Quote of Reply 20)
They both have the karasu tengu motif going on.

Reply 22: Even now I'd like to see well-made Karamaru action figure.
Even better if it included fully transformable Komusou Armor.

Reply 24: Karamaru's armor, wasn't it called the "Komusoutector"?
Only a vague memory, though.

If the ES Goukin Yattrou sells, they'll make a Karamaru too, I believe it!

Reply 23: (???)

Reply 24: From Gooling, looks like it is Komusoutector. Can't believe I remembered it wrong...

Thank you, felineki.

Nice story, Raz, but was that the end? Poor little zombie crow, survives being buried for two decades only to be snatched up by some bird of prey.
