You know who doesn't get much attention in the fandom? The robots. The "monsters" of the week that the Cats defeat in almost every episode. Without them, we probably wouldn't have much of a show. So which robot is your favorite? Also, if certain robots hadn't been destroyed (not necessarily your favorite one), what sort of job would they get after losing to the Pizza Cats?

I'll start with Walkie-Talkie. I can't say for sure if he's my favorite or not yet, but he's certainly an interesting one. If you got rid of his hypnotizing abilities, he'd probably fit right in with the rest of the citizens in Little Tokyo. He'd be great for entertaining schoolkids, or he'd make an amusing guest at parties for older people too. He'd also make a pretty good politician, seeing as he likes to tell people what they want to hear, can babble nonstop, and can convince enemies to sit down and have a meal together.

I may come up with some more ideas later, but in the meantime, let's hear what the rest of you have to say.

I don't really care much for the robots in the show, but if I had to pick one off the top of my head ... I like the robot who threw bowls of noodles is its primary weapon. It could get a job in a Teppanyaki restaurant. And of course you can't overlook 'Blown Up With People'. They could form a pretty deadly dogdeball team ...

I pity da fool who likes that singin' robot....jk but this made me think about Bull-shot Bill and the fact when he blew up you saw steaks go everywhere instead of the normal nuts and bolts...so would that man that Bill was infact organic? or in terms of KNT that he was a normal animaloid like the others and Speedy committed murder? as far as favorite robot i have to say Blowing up with people is by far the best...in my opinon.

In fact I think that he is a parody of Kinnikuman...

Anyway, I really love the flower robot that was able to control the weather... Such a stupid design but it still being menacing!! I also love the spring cap from the baseball episode...

I vote for Walkie-Talkie - he can actually be a good mecha:

1) He can teach god manners ("What do we say?" to Bad Bird)
2) He can draw the attention of many animaloids using his drum.
2.1) He can use his fast tongues to make announcements.
2.2) He can make anamaloids dancing/laughing.

I always liked Ruthless/Collector #9, the whole insect collector theme was funny. The bit where he's fencing with Speedy with a pair of tweezers always makes me laugh. According to his model sheet he was able to shoot insect pins out of his mouth, but that never made it into the show.

As for what he might do if he hadn't been destroyed... hmm, actually I'm kind of worried about that. I have this creepy image in my head of him "collecting" the show's entire cast and mounting them under glass like insect specimens. Yikes!

Steaks wouldn't go flying out of a normal bull either, so it was just done for laughs. But I think I once asked a similar question about whether the Cats were "killing" the "monsters" since all the characters in the KNT version are robots too. It might be a stretch, but maybe that's why there was little to no mention of our heroes being animaloids in the SPC version?

Anyway, I have some more robot job ideas. Crablo would make a good hiking instructor/guide. He didn't seem like he wanted to fight the Pizza Cats anyway until Bad Bird made him, as evidenced by my favorite exchange from "Cold and Crabby in Little Tokyo":

Bad Bird: Go declaw those Pizza Cats!
Crablo: No-a way, they're cool!

So it wouldn't be much of a stretch to convince him to be a "good" robot citizen.

And let's say you're a traveling musician in Little Tokyo and want to give an awesome performance in front of a huge crowd, but plain ol' outdoor stages are too boring for you. Solution? The Not-Engelbert-Humperdinck robot will help you rock out in style! All you'd need to do is adjust it so the volume of the speakers isn't quite at ear-bleeding levels.

Whaddyaknow.. Was typing the following without having read anything but the first post of this thread. Then noticed "Crablo" in the last post. Having taken the trouble to type all this, it would be wasteful to just discard the hard work Tongue

Quote
I've never been able to discern what the guy is called exactly. It sounds like he's called Crab Lower but somehow I don't think that's correct - either that or it is a pun too obscure for me. Unsurprisingly it's the helper from my favorite ep, Cold and Crabby in Little Tokyo, but I have no idea if this guy falls under the 'robots' guise: I think he's hired as you would a mountain guide as opposed to built.
Apart from at one time taking siding with the cats ("not-a way, they're cool"), I loved his wisecracking whenever he had a line to say and his obsession with the word Coochie.
I wanted to write that the character also was generally useless, however he did have a "nesting doll" attack and rescued Bad Bird. Somehow I feel this robot, if he really is, is a bit different from the usual robot mob.

EDIT: almost forgot to mention that Bad Bird seemed to react favorably to Crablo's demolition; that's not common either Speedy Wink
