Apparently used by a real fast food chain at some point, the internet domain name pizzacats.com was put up for auction recently and I got wind of it. Needless to say, I won the auction, which means it's ours now Speedy Wink Of SPC related .com domains, there're few under "foreign" control now, only samuraipizzacats.com and littletokyo.com spring to mind. Those domains are either not up for auction or sale, or ridiculously priced. For example: snog.com asks a minimum of $500 for samuraipizzacats.com, which seems to be the minimum they charge for any domain under their control. Ridiculous.
However, experience shows that with time, prices will drop to a reasonable amount.
Having said that, it seems domain names don't play as much of a a role as they used to as people increasingly use a search engine instead of the URL bar - which even is synonymous in some browsers - to find sites. Still, one more domain name in our hands is one less SPC related domain redirecting to commercials, spam or worse.
Not having found a better use for it, pizzacats.com redirects to edoropolis.org at the moment.

But it's a cute iron fist.

I wonder if the Korean "Pizza Cat" chain had it before.

That's actually pretty impressive in today's world of icanhascheezburger.coms.

I mean both as in scoring such a generic name in actual English and in that pizzacats.com was just as likely to be a blog about real cats eating pizza slices.

Weird, I thought I already replied to this. Well, here's what I was going to say, plus a new idea.

Nice job, Purrcat. It's a shame about samuraipizzacats.com, though. Asking $500 for it is absurd. I think that was the first Pizza Cat site I ever visited, way back in the day. Sadly, it seems there's not even an archived version left of it.

And now for my suggestion: We should use pizzacats.com as a promo site for the new merchandise coming out. The DVDs, artbook, toys, etc. We could have links to where you could buy them from Amazon or wherever else. Someone with good web-building skills could make the site look all pretty and shiny and such. What do you think?

Edit: How the heck did this wind up in the Off-Topic section? I've moved it to the General SPC Discussion where it belongs.

Excellent idea Tigriss!

The DVD is almost out, and I read some things about new toys.

Any examples of sites that look a bit like what you have in mind?

I sort of have an idea in mind with a simplistic design, but let me think about the specifics for a little while and get back to you.
