I'll definitely be getting this set ASAP. As I already said, I'm a huge fan of the show, and of nostalgia in general. It's a big deal to me.

I gotta ask: does anyone think that SPC will be back on TV? I'm not sure when Digimon (season 1) premiered on Nicktoons. But it's been there for a while.

I'm only familiar with U.S. TV networks so bear with me.  For those outside, just use your equivalents if you have any.

In my dreamy world though, If SPC goes anywhere, it should probably be on either a broadcast digital sub-channel (MeTV, ThisTV, etc), or on The Hub.

It wouldn't work on broadcast channels like CW's block anymore, or mainstream cable networks like CN or Nicktoons.  Both want flashy, newer material to run.  Yeah, Digimon (S1) Adventure is running on Nicktoons, but that's a bit more recent vintage (1999-2000), and Digimon is still fairly relevant.

Who knows though?  Personally, I think it should go on a digital broadcast sub-channel, The Hub, and on a streaming site like Hulu.  You'll reach the newbies who've been watching it via YouTube with Hulu and other streaming sites much faster than TV.

In all likelyhood, I don't think it'll return to TV anytime soon.  Would be nice to see though, if just for nostalgic reasons, and despite now owning it.  I've always thought, with the way things are in the world nowadays, I don't think some of the episodes that aired back in 1996-1997 would be fit to air these days.  The 2010s is a far different beast in terms of society and culture (we're far more PC than ever before in other words) than the mid/late 1990s.

It may fly better in other countries though.

I would be in favor of SPC coming on ThisTV, Antenna TV, or ME TV. I don't know why, because when I buy the DVDs, I'll own it and be able to watch it on my computer or a tv, but I want it to return to TV for those that don't have the DVDs.

And heck, as a fan of the series that got into it a bit late, I'd like to see it return just for that reason.

As much as I'd like to see it back on the air, the references are too dated for it to survive outside of a nostalgia-block... and I think Bandai still has merch rights, which means The Hub is not going to be interested. Best bet might be Boomerang/Teletoon Retro

Call me a sucker for nostalgia.  It's too bad that their 'kids blocks' run too early.

This is the nice thing about the DVD sets.  I can watch RIGHT at the time I remember.  Smiley  For commercials, just hit up Youtube.

It all works out.

Ordered mine just now, and I should probably receive it by Thursday or so. Don't know how much of it I'll be able to watch, since life, Garfield, fanfiction and video games are distracting me at the present time, but I know I'll look at it at some point. It's just a matter of when.

I too am a sucker for it. To me, it's not just the show itself but the time period, the 90's. It was awesome...at least to me.

I'm happy that SPC is finally getting their due.

I am almost positive I have my DVDs in my mailbox right now. I also have a missing mailbox key.
And a postal service that's 10 day behind on giving me a new mailbox key.

This is cruel and unusual punishment.

Nothing a little Cat's-Eye Slash can't handle.

Then of course, said DVD set may get destroyed in such a manner.

Oh well.  Tongue

Hope you can get that resolved soon.

Newbie?  No way.

I had to check your profile, and I guess you have been here a while. I'm just saying that any longtime, active member of the community should know that Vi is the #1 fan around these parts. (Now smile and agree with me. You don't want a one-way ticket to Extra's Island.)

You know, I kind of thought this would happen. I have the box set on my desk, but just can't get the time to watch a good block of episodes back to back. Sure, I've watched the odd episode here and there, but....
Right. This Sunday = nothing but the show. Might even watch some KNT episodes back to back with the SPC version, and see what changes were made by Saban to the plot and stuff.

Speaking of, Saban get a mention on the back of the box blurb and in the credits underneath, but no mentions for Disney or BVS anywhere. Good.

As to having the show back on the TV...if it came back on the air that would be fun. In the UK maybe Kix or Pop could pick it up, but it's a long shot.

My box set came today.  Later, taters.  Time for me to watch this show in the best quality I've seen it since it aired on TV.

I want to be able to save a batch of episodes for Labor Day; that's the only time I figure I'll be able to watch a whole bunch of 'em in one sitting. 'Course, I do intend to order some pizza later this week and enjoy the show the way it was meant to be enjoyed.  Wink

I'm just going to watch a few episodes every week or 2, so that by the time I've gone through both the KNT and SPC sets, I'll be about ready to watch the ones I started with again.

I got 'em! I got my SPC box set.

With other favorites like the Dragon Ball Z original dub and My Little Pony Season 2 out before this, I had to pace myself. But the long wait paid off and I ordered it for a total of $24.81.  Shocked

The packaging is definitely on the cheap side--clear plastic, no outer sleeve, and the discs all look alike. No extras either. But for all 52 episodes of the first cartoon that ever really inspired me as a kid, who cares? They're finally here! Now I'm on Episode 5.

Looks like you may have bought a bootleg.

From Discotek's FB page:

"Be on the lookout for fake Samurai Pizza Cats sets being sold as original Discotek/Eastern Star releases. Someone has started making factory copies of region 1 anime titles using the same cover art as the original and they are using the same UPC to list them. The copied set is in a clear case with no security sticker on the top. Our original sets are in a black 8 disc case with a security sticker on top."
