Guido Cerviche (1983-2010)

As you can see from the title, I have some very sad, yet belated, news to report on the fan-fic front. Guido Cerviche (real name Aaron Robert Grossman), the author of "The New Adventures of Samurai Pizza Cats" and "SPC: New Millennium" died on February 12, 2010 from a sudden heart attack, aged 27. (He turned 27 the month before.) I got the sad news from his father; I didn't know about his death until I contacted him. Guido was the first person I thought of when the Pizza Cats came on DVD, as I thought he would've loved it. As for the heart attack, all I can say is that he had a rare disease that cost him a liver at age 2, and had a kidney transplant years later. If anyone asked what happened to him, now you know, but it's said in great sadness.
Sadly, this leaves his works unfinished since, at least, 2001 or 2002. Which leads me to my announcement: with the blessing of his father, I will be continuing "New Millennium", as well as two future sets of series that he had on the back burner. Sovan Kawasagi, another friend of Guido and myself, will also be a part of the project as an adviser and, if need be, editor. Guido's father also gave me several of his son's works, including the still unfinished Episode 5, as well as Episode 6. I also have a lot of plans from my old chats with Guido on AOL in my old Packard-Bell computer that would be useful. With this, I'll keep Guido's memory alive and keep on finishing the stories so this won't fall into another example of what TV Tropes calls, "Author Existence Failure". Also, I'll be reposting his old works, as well as doing a few corrections (mostly spelling and voice cast correction).
For those who were, and still fans of his work, I hope I can do his work well. For those who are new, I'll gladly provide a link to his website, which is still functional despite not being updated since Christmas 2002. Take a look and see one of the best when it comes to fan-fiction:
http://guidocx17.tripod.com
Thank you all for listening, and let's keep Guido and his works in our memory. Let's not forget the hard work he put in to readers everywhere.
Wish me luck,

Wow, I'm sorry about his death and I send my condolences to his family, I know you will honor his memory with your work in the continuation of New Millenium and you can be sure we all will read it in honor of Aaron/Guido Cerviche. It would be nice to have a new access to his previous fanfics in order to read them again after so long time.
RIP Aaron; I wish you enjoy your Toritsukkun Armor in Heaven...

It's a shame to hear he passed away so young, but to let his works live on to serve his memory... well, I think that is a truly noble cause, and a fitting tribute.

Thanks, Kage. Thanks for remembering his works as well. And don't worry, I'll do my best to continue where he left off; especially, given the setting at the time, I've got a few things to reference in the later episodes.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss. I never knew him or his work, but I do like that he did fanfics and contributed something positive.
I wish you luck with continuing his work.

Sorry to hear about that. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with his work due to not being very active in the early days of the SPC fandom, but I'll give them a read now. I'm always glad to see SPC fanwork and appreciate that you are keeping his work alive.

No, Expresso's a different guy. He's posted on this forum a few times, though. He made some really nice 3D models of SPC characters a while back.

It's good to know there are some of the old crew still checking in and keeping tabs, though. ;7 *hug*

Right...I haven't been around here much, but I was informed of Guido's passing some time ago, and when I heard that a thread had been made here, I thought I should make my own post here as a belated tribute to one of the first fandom-related friends I made on the 'Net.
When he and I first met, I was still new to the whole "fandom" thing--fanart, fanfics, and RP were all untested waters for me, and Guido was one of the first fanfic authors I ever interacted with directly. As such, I learned a lot from my experiences with him; hindsight taught me how to avoid the use of Mary Sues in fanfics, power-gaming in RPs, et cetera. Looking back on it, I think Guido was remarkably patient with me, and I'm forever grateful for that. Thanks to my earlier experiences with him, I learned how to become a more original writer, how to be a more fair RPer who gave my partners time to shine, and the importance of keeping the spotlight on the original cast of a given work without relying too heavily on fan-characters. As these were part of my formative years, I don't think it's exaggerating to say that Guido was part of the influence that forged me into the writer I am today.
In addition to this, Guido opened my eyes in other ways--he introduced me to the world of alternative music in the form of Nightwish--upon examining his musical inspiration for some of his episode concepts, I was exhilirated by the way the combination of orchestral, vocals, and metal transported me into another world that was a mixture of fantasy, sci-fi, and anime. As a result, I began keeping an eye out for similar bands, and thus found my way to the works of Linkin Park and Celldweller. Such music has sparked my imagination, and further enriched the worlds I've thought up while listening to it. So that's another thing I owe Guido.
Even as the years went on, and other fandoms started to interest us, we kept in touch and shared ideas. When I lost touch with him, I assumed it was because our contact information had been old, and regretted that I wouldn't get to talk with him again. I never could have imagined that on the other side of the screen, Guido Cerviche's life had been cut short by a heart attack...and it hurts all the more because he was only a few years older than me at the time. When A-Log gave me the news, I had to step away from the computer for a bit and just let it process that I'd never get the chance to chat with Guido again...that his own life, and rich imagination, had been cut short.
So here's to you, Guido Cerviche. May your next time around be kinder.
P.S. As a tribute to Guido, I've been considering posting some doujin images that I've been coloring in, but I'm not sure where I'd put them (since, for the most part, they don't show anything explicit. Would it be here, or in the Teyandee thread due to these not actually being proper fanart? I'd appreciate some insight, here.

It's been a while, but I do have an announcement to make.
First off, I'd like to thank LonePhantom756 for sharing his thoughts on Guido and how he was an inspiration to him as a writer. He will be also be helping me out as an adviser and, if need be, editor.
Secondly, I'm still in the process of brainstorming many of the episodes Guido didn't have a chance to write before his death. Some are lost to the databanks of our respective minds, but from what I got on the old computer, you can expect "A New York Minute", episode 5 of New Millennium, to be complete in the near future; along with episode 6, [NAME WITHHELD] as well.
Now, on to the announcement: I was mulling it over, and after discussing this with fellow fans on Facebook, there might be a possibility that Guido's old works would be adapted in a visual form; many are willing to participate as voices for the project. Which leads me to this: does anybody on this forum know either a good animator or artist to make this into a fan animation or a motion comic? (You see, some visual gags in "New Adventures" and what not won't work in a radio drama.) If so, post a response, send me a PM or an e-mail, and we'll talk. I'm planning on a Patreon to pay any artist, if need be; but due to copyright, of course, it will not be considered official in fear of Tatsunoko lowering the boom.
So, with all that said and done... what do you say? Wanna help me make my friend's fic complete in several ways than one?

I think it's great that you're doing all of that in honor of your friend; it's very admirable, and I wish you the best of luck.

From out of the blue, a fan decided to do this:
http://dreadmon.deviantart.com/gallery/56974289/SPC-NEW-MILENIUM-MEMORIAL
Your thoughts? In my case, they're a little different than what me and Guido expected, but still. Could be good ref material for future artwork for the series.

Well, I definitely like the artwork of Speedy with his sibling--could make for some nice fanfiction in the future. I also like Francine as a Pizza Cat, and once again, this could add to the Pizza Cats universe.

It's okay. Personally, I don't check this website as much as I used to, so no harm, no foul.
That's great that you're finishing up episode 5. I hope you're enjoying yourself.
Good luck.
