Ah...actually, I've posted about that before...and that was her birthday present to me a couple years ago! ^_^ "Mikey Cavatini," something of a fan character. The butterfly is a reference the DDR song "Butterfly," which I used in a Pizza Cats AMV. I've actually seen pictures of her own online avatar done in the SPC style. She's good at it! =) Her complaint, though, is that SPC characters are too detailed XD

Good interpretation of the character. It brings out some elegance for the little brat. The pose is awkward; It's hard to tell if she is leaning on something or lying down. It would help to see the invisible surfaces she is interacting with. Some perspective would be nice too. She could be lying on a bed or leaning on a table. She could have both feet planted on the ground. In that case, I'd love to see someone bend that far to the side without falling over.

It looks like she's lying down to me. Very good color work there, smooth gradiation. Something about the face placement/head shape seems a little off to me, but it's a nice piece overall.
Hmm, it looks like there's a
contest
going on at the deviantART SPC club. Gah, if only school wasn't taking up so much of my time...

Okay, I got a special offering for all of you to enjoy. I completed this custom CD album cover last night. It's a new title from the Pointless Sisters called "Get to the Point". I hope to submit it for the DA CD art contest. Do you think I have any chance of winning?

Too bad there's no songs to go with it.
Be careful what you wish for.
I might just try to put on my best singing voice and do a few myself.

It's cute. The wordplay is interesting, although the way it reads from bottom to top is a little awkward. However, if the shape were to be flipped upside down, it probably wouldn't get the point across as well, even if it would make the text easier to read. The Polly and Lucille faces are simple, but nothing wrong with them as far as I can see. Does it have a chance of winning? I really can't say, I don't know how the entries will be judged. But, IMO, if you want to go for the win, it could use a little sprucing up. More color, for one thing. Some kind of pattern to fill in the blank white space? Colored outlines for the faces instead of black? A more interesting font might help, too. You have a good start, though!
Also, as a general tip, you might want to either save as some format other than JPEG, or if you want to use JPEG, use a higher quality setting. In pictures with large areas of solid color, JPEG artifacts can become very visible and potentially distracting (look at the blurry wavy stuff within the green triangle that seems to surround the white text for an example here).
I'm hoping to do something for this contest, too. Although I've been so busy lately that all I have so far is a tiny little pose thumbnail scribbled out on the back of a school paper.

Thanks for the feedback. You've found everything that I thought was potentially wrong with it. But unfortunately I was using a one-month trial of Flash to make it. That trial expired last night. I was racing against the clock to get this thing finished in a submittable form. I have no way of going back and making those changes, unless I download it again. So, what you see is what you get for now.

You're on! I give you a week to make the same thing in paint!
That's two more days than I had to finish it. What's more: you already have the concept laid out for you. Good luck.

Dude. I'm sorry I got defensive on you. My question about the contest was meant to be half-hearted. That's why it was so un-nerving to read you listing off most of the flaws I'm already aware of. I guess I should have worded the question differently, because I wasn't asking for such harsh criticism.
You are at no fault. You stepped up and described in brutal honesty why you think my submission might not hold itself up in the contest. Everything you said is correct. Your suggestions would be very helpful. I would change the fonts, remove the black outlines, find a colour for the background (I'm thinking a light blue would work), and save it in a better format. I would do all that based on your suggestions, so I can submit something we can all be proud of.
But I'm not going to because, quite simply, I've decided to stick with what I have. Even though you've convinced me that it might not win, I'm still going to submit it. The purpose of these contests is to motivate people to make fan made content. That's exactly what I've done, and what I'm satisfied with. I'm going to submit this CD cover to prove to those holding the contest that they're efforts aren't in vain.

Hmm? Nothing to apologize about, I didn't think you were getting too defensive. I'm sorry if I picked your submission apart too much, but I couldn't tell that the "Do you think I have any chance of winning?" line wasn't really serious. I agree that the most important part of these contest is just to have fun creating, but the way I read your post made it sound like you were asking for serious suggestions. Sorry if that wasn't really what you had in mind. As I said earlier, I do think you've got the framework of a good design here.
