i'm sure some of you have already seen this by now, but i just thought i'd post this link here anyway. but, for those of you who haven't yet, watch this trailer and be amazed!

http://media.wii.ign.com/media/748/748545/vids_1.html

the newest one is the Nintendo World 2006 trailer, which is off-screen. oh, and the trailer is in Japanese. i'd give you a reference guide on who's who in the trailer, but i'm sure you'll recognize all of them. other than that, Japanese know it as "Dairantou Smash Burazaazu Ekkusu [Dairantou Smash Brothers X]".

I found the similarity between the Japanese logo and Super Street Fighter II X's logo amusing.  Grin

you know, they do look pretty similar. i haven't seen this Street Fighter title before (i don't even think i've played that one yet :S), but it indeed looks like the Japanese Smash Bros. Brawl one.

Uh, guys. What do those logos have to do with the new Smash Brothers game?

Go Smash Bros! Go Nintendo! Grin

Has anyone heard whether they are using the Gamecube controller hook up to play Brawl?

The second one is the Japanese logo for Super Smash Bros. Brawl (or, more accurately, "Dairantou Smash Bros. X", since that's the Japanese title). It appeared in that latest trailer.

The first one is just the logo to one of my favorite games, and I found some of the similarites to the Japanese SSBB logo amusing. The "X" appears in an almost identical fashion, being animated to look like it's being "painted" onto the screen.

SSB:Brawl has just been announced halfway through this year, and there are already some similiarities with another fighting game. When the game is released, I like to see more...

Well you know, there are SO many video games out there that no matter what you do, there's a good chance someone's done something similar before. Doesn't really matter as long as the game's fun, IMO. Speedy Wink I liked Super Smash Bros. Melee a lot (only played the original N64 one a couple times, though), so I'm definitely looking forward to this.

i'd like to know what other characters will be in Smash Bros. Brawl, although i do have an idea on who else will be added, and on who will be removed. in fact, word is out that Shigeru Miyamoto has asked about -- you guessed it -- Sonic the Hedgehog. i'm pretty sure that will actually happen, thanks to popular demand. as for first-party characters, i think i posted what i hoped to see a while back. the topic might be lost in the archives by now, though. ^^;

Don't get your hopes all the way up yet. I learned that one of the criteria for 3rd party chars entering into Smash Bros. is that the series had to have originated on a Nintendo system. Annoyed Nintendo just loves to make us sweat about these things, don't they? I hope that Sonic gets in, though. Grin

Solid Snake didn't even originate on the NES. The Metal Gear series in fact debuted on the MSX 2 computer system.

truth be told, Sonic actually did appear in at least one Nintendo-licensed game. the first, i think, was Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, along with Sonic Advance.

Or it depends how popular the character is (regardless of what system it belonged or use to belong to) or how much a fan background the character/game has currently. It's a matter of how much the fans want which characters of their favorites on the game to be seen fighting on this very unique fighting game.

I feel that Tails would make a better Smash Bros character than Sonic. Sonic is all about speed; in an arena, Sonic has no where to run. Outside of his 2d games, Sega has never been able to give Sonic any unique moves. And in the 2d envirnoment his only attack consisted of jumping and rolling into enemies. Not alot of variation.  It would be inappropriate to make Sonic a "fighter" and have him punching or kicking.

Tails on the otherhand has alot of potential. He can do alot with his tails. His flight can be his recovery and double jump move. He could spin his tails to the rear to give him an instantanious boost forward. Just to name a few things.

Tails? Yikes! are you serious? Yikes!  if any sonic character besides sonic should make smb, it has to be knuckles.  he's a fighter for crying out loud! Speedy Wink
and haven't you ever played sonic battle?  it's one of the best sonic games ever, not to mention just a good game all on its own! Grin

Sonic could make a good SMB fighter. There are many ways for him to make all sorts of moves. Besides, have you guys ever read any of his Archie comics. He can fight in those comics. Especially the Endgame episodes where in the last one of the series, he had a one-on-one fight against Dr. Robotnik and it was incredible. So, he can fight. Speedy Wink

Besides. Think about it. Sonic vs. Mario. Two mascots from two rival companies squaring off. Nintendo vs. Sega. It's the match of the century two decades in the making. Even though Sega is no longer a system company, but it would be great to see that. And with this new upgrade of the game, we could see a great match for those two from the way I saw the trailer. Talk about awesomeness.

Saying all Sonic can do is run and spin is like saying all Mario can do is run and jump.  Tongue

They should add Dante from DMC series.

Pure badassery right there.
