I'm all for teamwork. Of course Tsuneko is free to help out subbing if he wants to. But currently I can manage it by myself just as well. After all, it's the faithful translators (Sophia-san, Mako-san, Matsumoto-sensei and Tigriss) who does the REAL work, and they are probably in greater need of back-up than I am right now.

That's good, I prefer to have more people working and helping, and as Violet said, there are plenty of work to be done. Puutaro-kun, Tsukeno and others, I appreciate very much your offer to help us, thank you!  Speedy Wink

About Portuguese version, Tigriss told me it's next thing she'll do. I already sent to her the KNT 02 Portuguese script, so perhaps she'll ask one of the subbers to do the job. We can think in other languages too, for example we have Spanish speaking people here.

puutoro fair enough.

I wasn't expecting my help in subbing to be taken so negatively.

I am not after your 'job' as i have the english SPC episodes to do remember. making completely new eps is harder than subbing one that is already encoded for you.

But if i'm needed i am here. but from your negativity i'll be a long way down the list it seems Smiley

I hate to think someone offering his work being excluded, so in my mind this is not the case. We have much work to do, so can't waste any help available.
Perhaps problem arises when the bottleneck of the process isn't in the subbing, but in the transcribing, translating and revising work. I feel somehow responsible for not having more episodes to be subbed, but I have nothing to do except begging for your patience. Since the aim of Tigriss is to get greater accuracy possible for the translation, the process is really slow. How to solve this problem? I don't know, and any suggestion will be well appreciated.
On the second thought, I can see oportunities to make both of you, Puutaro-kun and Tsuneko, busy for a while. Speedy Wink
1-Subbing SPC (not KNT) episodes in English. It seems pointless? No, it can help someone with serious hearing problem. Apart this case, I read reasonably well in English, but listening in English is very awkward to me. I guess this problem would be common among other people whose mother tongue is not English.
2-Subbing in different A/V quality, since we could have demands for better quality or for smaller file sizes. I read on EE people advocating for both options, so if there are different needs, why not take care of them? The same can be said about different encodings, AVI, MPEG, MPEG-4, RM, WMV, and so on. I'm interested in multiplexed MPEG1 streams, compatible with VCD (I can't afford a DVD burner yet).
3-It would be interesting to have other languages to subb. Where are the Spanish speaking folks? Other European languages? Esperanto?  Grin
4-I can translate from Japanese to Portuguese more easily than to English. If someone take from me the duty of translating to English, I guess this can speed up my work.

No, no, NO! Please don't take it that way. I admit I was a bit startled at first, thinking someone else was gonna take over my job. But it's very, very nice of you to offer help, and I'd really appreciate it if you want to do it and feel that you have the time. But as you said, you're encoding new episodes which is a lot harder work than what I do. Maybe it should rather be me helping you (even if I don't think there's any way for me to do that)?

Anyway, sorry for coming off as a total grouch. You wanting to help is nothing but positive.  Polly Love

It was announced in another thread, but I think it's good to announce here too.  KNT 02 sub is available to download at Nyanki Fanatics.

Present status:
KNT 02-done and  available now;  Grin
KNT 01-translation done, file sent to Tigriss;
KNT 03-transcription to Japanese done, revision needed;
KNT 53-revision done, file sent to Tigriss; translation to Portuguese in progress;
KNT 30-Violet sent me the Japanese script file, but no work done yet.

EDIT: KNT 53 - Portuguese version done and sent to Tigriss.

OK, I am still working in the Portuguese translation of KNT 03.
Unfortunately there are some obscure phrases in this episode yet. Can you help me? The part that I have doubts is in boldface.

Yattarou and Sukashii arrives at Omi-chan shop and see it closed.
005-Sukashii: "Yasumi? Aahh. Sekkaku Omi-chan no ireta, koku ga aru rikei ga aru(?) shibui kobutcha o nomi ni kita to yuunoni!"
005-スカシー:「休み?ああっ。せっかくおみっちゃんのいれたこくがあるにけい(??)がある、渋いコブ茶を飲みに来たというのに。」

A missile chases the Nyanki.
056-Narrador: "Ki ga douten shita karerawa, jyetto-wuma(?) wo tsukau koto wo wasurete ita!
056-ナレーター:「気が動転した彼らは、ジェットウーマ(?)を使う事を忘れていた。」

The final speech of the narrator, at end of the episode.
117-Narrator: "Nyankii no katsuyaku ni yotte, karamaru tati no daikanseki(?) kuuzen  tetsudoo(?) no keikaku wa tsuihoo ni keshita. Daga kono yo ni habikoru aku no tane ga tsukiru koto wa nai. Ganbare! Himitsu ninjatai Nyankii. Tatakae! Bokura no Yattaroo!"
117-ナレーター:「二ャンキーの活躍によって、カラ丸達のだいかんくせきにして(?)空前鉄道(?)の計画は追放に消した。だがこの世にはびこる悪の種がつきる事はない。がんばれ、秘密忍者隊二ャンキー。戦え、僕らのやっ太郎。」

I'm guessing, based on context, but I'd translate it as:

Sukashii: "Out? Aaah! So much difficulty Omi-chan goes through to find ingrediants to serve the finest kobu tea to her customers!"

I have to go now, but maybe I'll try the others later.

Unfortunately I'm still in doubt. The problem arises when I'm hearing that part of speech, I don't recognize well what is spoken in Japanese, so I'm not trusting in the accuracy of my hearing.
For example, in the 'Meka meka ninpoo hidentyou' of the same episode (about Guido Anchovy ), after exaustive hearing, I trascribed the phrase 'kasa obiki ni arukiyakusha no you ni toojyou suru', but this hardly makes any sense. Several weeks after, I have heard finally the correct phrase: 'kasa o buki ni kabukiyakusha no you ni toojyou suru' (using his umbrella as a weapon, he appears like a Kabuki actor - which makes sense).

056-Narrador: "Ki ga douten shita karerawa, jyetto-wuma(?) wo tsukau koto wo wasurete ita!
056-ナレーター:「気が動転した彼らは、ジェットウーマ(?)を使う事を忘れていた。」

Narrator: They were so frightened by this, they forgot to use their Jet-hover.  ジェットホーバー

Quote
The final speech of the narrator, at end of the episode.
117-Narrator: "Nyankii no katsuyaku ni yotte, karamaru tati no daikanseki(?) kuuzen  tetsudoo(?) no keikaku wa tsuihoo ni keshita. Daga kono yo ni habikoru aku no tane ga tsukiru koto wa nai. Ganbare! Himitsu ninjatai Nyankii. Tatakae! Bokura no Yattaroo!"

Daikan=Edo era title, a goverment official.  Daikan seki=Goverment house, mansion =the palace
Tetsudoo=railroad track

Narrator:  Beacause of the Nyanki's activity, in Karamaru's mind, the idea for an unprecedented (secret?) railroad to the palace was banished.  But the kind of evil which spreads over this world is not exhausted.  Always, the secret ninja group Nyanki is there!  Do your best, Yattarou!

That's how I would translate it.  But I never would have figured it out without the parts you did already.

It is, but I'm trying to keep it close to the way it's said in Japanese, which is something like "Nyanki's activity as a result, Karamaru's thinking of Palace unpresedented railroad was bashished"
To make it sound more "normal", you could say "Thanks to the Nyanki, Karamaru's plan for a secret palace railroad was ruined."

"Jet-hover" (jetto hoobaa) is now clear for me, although I hear "jetto uumaa" .
The other phrases must be checked yet, I'll try to hear again. However repeated hearing doesn't mean that the correct speech can be figured out (some psycho-acoustic effect, perhaps, or my ear is defective  Yikes!). For example, in the all the same narrator's intro speech:
"... daga, shikahi, goyudan nasaruna..."
although I know the correct phrase, it sounds for me like:
"... daga, shikahi, goyudan mesaruna..."
regardless how many times I have heard it.
I have sent a post in the Japanese board anyway, in a hope to get help from Japanese fans (or from the author of the episode script  Grin ).

It's probably a dialect/accent, perhaps to sound more "Edo".

Ok, for me the transcribing work of KNT 03 is done (kind of giving up, perhaps). I asked for help to understand some obscure words, and was helped by Violet.   Polly Wink As the last resort I used Audacity audio software to hear the unclear speeches (thanks, Puutaro-kun  Speedy Wink ), this helped me a little bit. About 3 or 4 words remain unclear though, but probably it don't alter the meaning of the speeches considerably.
The Portuguese translation is almost finished, and now it's coming the harder work (for me, of course) that is the translation to English. Probably Tigriss will help me, although she seems to be very busy. Any help will be welcome.

EDIT: Portuguese translation done!  Smiley

With Tsuneko's copy of "Candid Kitties", I was finally able to read and translate all of the stuff from the "schematics" from when the bad guys are watching on the movie screen.  Looks like the animators were having a little fun, thinking that no one would ever be able to read it due to the size and it only being on the screen for a few seconds.

Yattarou
Head: Aho Manuke - Foolish Blockhead
Chest: Haba Keita - Wide Figure
Crotch: Kin Tama - Gold balls
Profile Head: Okane ga Hos(hi) (last word cut off by edge of screen) - Wants Money

Sukashii
Head: No Shuyo - Brain Tumour
Chest: Kekkaku - Tuberculosis
Crotch: Eizu - AIDS
Feet: Mizumushi - Athlete's Foot

Pururun
Ear: Mimi - Ear
Chest: Oppai - Boobs
Crotch: XXXX - XXXX

Wow, thanks! I've been wondering about those, the only one I could make out was XXXX. They're hilarious! Yattarou has gold balls!  Grin Poor Sukashii with all those diseases though.

The words that appear under the profile heads in the KNT version of the ep are equally weird...
