Another reason for their similarity could come from the fact that albinism is very common in rabbits.

If Eto Rangers was entirely unrelated to SPC, then I would see this as pure coincidence.

But doesn't albinism affect the colour of hair as well as the skin/fur and eyes? It ought to be white, or we can assume these two bunnies use colour dye, like Violet's lovely carrot-coloured orange.

Who else felt tempted to confuse 'hair' with 'hare'?  Grin

Look. The point is. There are  A lot of albino rabbits. These two characters are based off albino rabbits.

Well, Cream especially is. I guess the comparison using the 2 rabbit characters is not the hardest link between them.

Even if you were to disregard the studio and staff connections, I think the hair styles are too similar to consider it a coincidence.

I haven't watched this show myself yet, but now that the first subtitled episode has been released, I think I might check it out.

It'd be interesting to see what would happen if our fair Princess and our young gal were to switch places...

Both rabbits have very alike looks, I agree, but they have personalities that are too much different. I read (in the CD cover? I don't remeber well) that Cream is very tender and takes care of people very well; but the same can't be said about  Princess Violet (Daisensei, shima nagashi jaa!!). Cream is the one who most approaches the personality attributed to the person born at Usagi-doshi (year of rabbit).

now that I think about it, K.Kawai also participated in the music of Hyper Police. That show shares some similarities to SPC regarding anthropomorphic animals in the side of justice, but caters to an older audience.
it is very funny too.
 
the manga is   more explicit though, but offers a more exciting story
