Video Games have excellent music. I wanna know what you think is the best. You can only pick one and you have to be specific.

What game is it from? When do you hear it?

My favorite is from an old Genesis game called Bonanza Brothers and it's the music from the first level. This tune beats out everything from Sonic, Final Fantasy and Halo.

I could loop this tune for 8 hours and not get annoyed with it. It's got this bouncyness to it.

I can't find any mp3s on the net and I can only find one midi. The midi's don't do it any justice.

But I can still listen to it. I have a ROM for Bonanza Bros. for my Genesis emulator. I can play it from the sound test and minimize the emulator window. I'm listening to it right now.

The theme music from all of the Final Fantasy games (or, most of them, as far as I know). That just sticks in my head.

Either that or the part in FF3 (American version) when you have to remember the lines to the opera in the opera house. I can still hum that tune to this day, even after not playing the game for 10+ or so years.

WAY too many to name. I could probably write a book on the subject.

I enjoy music from the Guilty Gear, Klonoa, and Chronocross soundtracks, as well as any catchy chiptunes (Double Dragon, Doom, Sonic Series, etc.)

By the way, we aready have a video game music thread; perhaps they should be merged?

The opening intro from Soul Edge / Soul Blade is a thrill to listen to. Also, the music from Star Fox for the SNES is my absolute favourite in the series. Too bad the composer only worked for that only game in the series.

Other favourites are Rayman, Tekken 2, Zelda, Final Fantasy VI+VII, Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 2 and Streets of Rage 1 + 2.

Hmm. I do like several themes in Star Fox 64, Zelda: Orcania of Time, and the Super Smash Bros genre.

But, the theme that sticks mostly to my head is the 1st level theme in the Sonic the Hedgehog game. The first one. Grin

Andy (I love that theme song)

I like many of the Nintendo themes, though of the lot of 'em my favorite would be some where in SSB.

My most favourite tunes, however, are nestled safely away in the first Spyro trilogy and my other PS1 games (FF7, FFT, HM: BTN, etc.).

(To Mechadon: Attached here, because I couldn't find anywhere else to put it.  Captured directly from the game, and I'm hoping its the one you mentioned.

Its darn good, too.)

Sorry, Takila. But that's just another midi. Not the original. At least you know what the song kinda sounds like. I'll stick to my emulator.

I have to say thanks. I appreciate your effort.

There is a Sega Genesis collection with Bonanza Bros. on it for the PSP. And IGN has video of gameplay.

I hope someday someone will rip the music from this collection and make an MP3 of it.

While searching on this very topic, I happened to come across this site:

http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks.php

If you ignore the ads, you can come away with a plethora of game music.  I'm downloading some now  Smiley.

(NOW you tell me it's a Genesis game.  The music before was from the Sega Master System port.)

(Here's what I got from the one you mentioned.)

(EDIT: Just realized that the site in question has a copy of the music I captured and posted.  *Hits head with keyboard* )

*Thud*

Yes! That's it! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

And the site you found. That's the site where I get most of my game music. I recommend a track from Musha Aleste called Fullmetal Fighter. It would make great background music for an SPC music video.

Download anything ya want from that site. Better still, if you register you can download full soundtracks rather than individual ones if you prefer.  Smiley

Thanks Takila, that site's bought back some old memories. I'll add Conker's Bad Fur Day to my list - 'Heist' was an awesome jazzy song, and 'The Great Mighty Poo' always has me in stiches when I hear it.

There's a whole bunch of them I like, but if I absolutely had to pick just one...

Hmmm....

Ehhh...

Brimstar's music, from Metroid: Zero Mission. It reminds me of why I'm into video games in the first place.

It was kind of hard to pick, really.
