Samurai Pizza Cats: COLD - Online Comic Series

Not mine, but rather the work of
Alan "OMA" Solivan
, (Author of
The Rogue's Gallery
/
Author's Space
and a few other things over at fireball20xl.) and Bryon "Psyguy" Beaubien, who's stuff I can't say I've read.
It's only just started, (16 pages to date.) but I think it'll get rolling quite nicely. It's set a year after the big ending, with, it seems, all that entails.
So, without further delay or exposition:

I've taken a quick look at it myself.
I've got to say, I'm excited to see where this one is going.
Pretty decent art too. ^_^

Ditto what Some1Else said - awesome find! This looks like it's going to be really good.
I couldn't stop laughing at the look that Guido gives Francine after she calls him an amateur.
Check out Alan's Deviantart page ->
http://bignasty4life.deviantart.com/
. Not only does it have all the pages so far, but also character reference sheets (have a look at the one for Seymore) and a few other cool SPC images.

Heh, shouldn't be too long before Seymore shows up. Given the most recent page.
Loved
this one
. So, I'm a little more sure that the cats are in capable hands there.

Ah, I remember when reading the latest issue of Psyguy's TMS was the highlight of my evenings! '
If you stand like this long enough, you start to feel like one of those Garfield suction thingies y'see plastered against car windows!
'
This comic isn't half bad, either! I'll definitely be following this comic!

Three new pages are up. Jerry Atric tries to convince the Big Cheese that Samurai Pizza Cat Speedy looks exactly the same in his Pizza Unifrom counterpart with much difficulty!

So I've recently started catching up on this again, and I must say: It's certainly been worth it.
Things are really starting to come together, and they've done a pretty strong job of maintaining the SPC-style humor and atmosphere. The more they ease off fan-character emphasis, and continue to develop the SPCs as characters, the more I'm going to enjoy this comic series.
If you don't wanna read through all the (semi-unimportant) early stuff, I'll recommend starting at
Page 55
.
My quick thoughts on recent pages 67-73 (Highlight to read)
YES. Other than in "No Talent Guido", the series didn't really touch upon Guido being the overlooked member of the SPC trio at all. On top of this, Speedy and Guido each have MASSIVE egos, yet we rarely saw them butt heads over anything beyond their shared love interest, Lucille. It's all just so very in-character.
I love dissension within a closely knit group, and thus, I love where this story's going. And be it as a solo artist or a traitor, I'm looking forward to seeing the blue cat get more of the spotlight down the road.

Gonna agree with you on all of that, D-Mac. Sinder got me to start catching up on the comic again and I was definitely pleased with the quality of the comic and the writing. The cats are very true-to character, it's looking real good thus far.

OK, vvhat shovv are you seeing? Speedy does NOT have a massive ego! He does NOT! I can name a dozen examples of times vvhen Speedy has behaved in an unselfish vvay, putting others before him, particularly in 'Great Comet Caper' and 'Bad Bird Uncaged'.
if he had said ego, vvould he have been vvilling to risk his life so save Tokyo from that comet?! Guido has the ego, NOT Speedy!
VVHY aren't Speedy and Polly together in this?! Come ON, they're BOTH acting very out of character in this!
The ilustrations are great...but that's about all I can say.
I hate it. I'm not reading anymore of it. VVhy all this dissing on one of my favorites (after Polly)?

I've got to disagree with you on this Pollygirl.
One can have an ego and still be a hero.
Ego is defined as...
1 : "the self especially as contrasted with another self or the world"
2 : a: egotism 2 b: self-esteem 1
3 : the one of the three divisions of the psyche in psychoanalytic theory that serves as the organized conscious mediator between the person and reality especially by functioning both in the perception of and adaptation to reality
Basically, the point is, yes. He has an ego both by dictionary definition (and thesaurus referencing) and his character. He can at times be full of himself.
I'll try to come up with more solid points later. At the moment I'm busy'ish.

You hate it, hmm? This, from someone who wanted only positive reviews for their luke-warm stories. Lets see you produce something of quality first, then you may talk like this.

*sigh* pollygirl, I don't mean to offend you or anything, but you really need to step back, take a few deep breaths and look at what you are typing. Settle down. It's just a cartoon/comic.
Look, I'm sure that you can run off examples of Speedy being nice. Based on what I've seen from your posts here and your stories on FF.net, you really dislike Guido and seem to think that Speedy and Polly are complete angels. But there's the problem. None of the four main cats are perfect, and yes, that includes
Speedy
.

Ok, let me ask you something - say you liked a certain guy. You find out he likes you too and tells you he cares about you. Then all of a sudden, he gets cold feet and doesn't do anything about this developing relationship. How would
you
feel about it? Now imagine that this couple is Speedy and Polly. I think that Polly's reaction on the latest page is pretty in-character behaviour for her. And
please
, not every fan-fic has to have the two of them coupled together.

So you're basically saying you hate it because it hasn't put together your favourite couple, and your favourite characters are shown to have flaws? That's a little bit childish, don't you think?
I really do think you need to take a chill-pill about the whole Speedy/Polly thing, and not be so defensive about it. If I've offended you, then I apologise. I'm perfectly happy to continue debating about it if you wish.
-------------------------------------------------------
On topic, I going to agree with D-Mac as well. I'm really enjoying this so far as well, and hoping that Guido does get a little more on-screen time in this (or should that be on-page?).

Personally I haven't thought of you as such a bad person PollyGirl, but I honestly hope you
have
been insulted, at least a little, because if you don't want people to hate you more than they already do on this board, then you better listen up.
What we all are consistently trying to tell you is that WE ARE ALL FANS OF SPC TOO, otherwise you wouldn't have a board to post on. And no one here, aside from you, ever has any problem with Speedy having "character flaws", because THAT IS WHO HE IS.
I believe that somewhere in your head, you have this romanticized version of Speedy who is a knight in shining armor - pure and godly and perfect. Let me tell you something: the writers have PURPOSELY given him flaws to make him "human", because that is what makes for a good story (take notes). Yeah he is the leader, yeah he's awesome, and yes he absolutely can be mature and in-charge, brave and loyal when it all comes down to it, but he is also egotistical at times, stubborn, selfish, conniving and even insulting. There's no ignoring the fact that Speedy often is too dumb-witted to realize what he just said is gonna earn him a frying pan to the face or a mouth-full of missiles....or hadn't you ever seen an episode of SPC?
I could go on, but I have at least one more thing I want to say.
Don't give sh*t to people about criticizing your work and THEN blast
probably the most admirable team effort to keep SPC alive in a HUGE ongoing comic project
by saying "i hate it"
. You need to stop thinking everyone has to conform to YOUR ideals for it to be good. Open your mind, and stop being stuck-up. Because there's having an intelligent argument for what you think, and then there's making a fool of yourself in front of the only people who would even think about bothering to read your fictions.
Think about what you say before you say it.
And get a f*@$%ing keyboard already, your typing is exponentially more annoying by that fact alone.

Speedy has no ego!
Pretty much everything Helios said. It's reeeeally not worth letting yourself be so offended over something as trivial as cartoon characters. Though if you wanna get into character analysis, it's rather evident that Speedy thinks pretty highly of himself. What with the constant referring to himself as a hotshot, and being the "star" who can never lose.
"When I stop, I'm gonna get my own autograph!"
Go watch "A Little Bit O' Luck" to see this part of his attitude become central to the episode's plot.
To Speedy's credit, he
is
a nice guy at heart, be it can hardly be said that he's one without any sort of ego. As Aster noted, flaws play a vital role in making characters, and even
everyday people
, who they are. Without any flaws and conflict, characters become extremely mundane, and well... boring.
l
If you take this all to mean that "ARRGH! SPEEDY SUX & WE ALL HATE
+
PAIRING!!!", then you have completely and uttery missed the point of everyone's posts.
