Damn it!!! >_< I just woke up right now. I had a dream involving this news/topic.
My brother's got a laptop and is always on it getting updates on gaming news. So, in my dream I'm sitting on the couch and he's at the kitchen table typing away. Then all I hear is: "Aw crap! Connor, one of your STUPID pizza cats is going to be in a video game." And, I'm like: "YES! They made it in!!!"

and then I woke up.  Annoyed

My real life is the nightmare.  Cry

If it's not SPC, TMNT, BMFM, Swat Kats or Sonic, what's the point?

Nice art there! Although is Speedy really that short? Come to think of it, wasn't his height as given in SPC quite a bit shorter than his KNT height?

Anyway, here's a magazine scan featuring the latest revealed characters and info for TvC. No one from SPC yet, but there's a notice in the corner stating that more characters are yet to be revealed...

I recognise Ryu and Chun Li, but who are all the others?

Well, for Capcom, there's Batsu from Rival Schools, Souki from Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, Alex from Street Fighter III, and Morrigan from the Darkstalkers series (which was really great, it's a shame that it's not that popular, and that aside from various tie-ins and crossovers, it hasn't had a new installment since '97). Tatsunoko has Owashi no Ken from Gatchaman, and Gold Lightan, Casshan, Tekkaman, Hurricane Polymar, and Yatterman from their respective shows.

I don't think that's the case. I've never been able to find any references tin KNT's credits that it was based on a pre-existing manga. Rather, they seem to imply that the manga was based on the show, and was produced at around the same time.

It's your choice but these are the nyanki we are talking about, not the pizza cats. Sorry, I don't like calling the pizza cats and the nyanki the same characters.

The manga is too short, is worse drawn and has great differences with the anime, like Lucille boxing. All mangas based in an anime last at least a tanbokun and are usually better drawn than the anime, while the real KNT manga last less than that. Think this, if you where doing a Kodama (Manga with talking animals) in a second rate magazine, and someone wanted to do an anime based on your manga, would you keep doing your lame manga or get the chance to work in an anime?. Is not the first or last case where an author stops doing the manga to work in another media with really similar content. The manga was lost for ages, because is was too short to be released in a tanbokun but was scaned and put online some years ago. Is the real deal, not doujinishi like we where used, why would a fan do a manga version of the second knt episode when dojuinishi arent "literal" of the anime stuff, uh?.

Is not weird that we finally found it, Internet is easy to use asnd gains users every day, so news stuff is add all the time.

Yoshimi Hamada doesn't appear anywhere in KNT's credits though, nor do the credits indicate the show being based on a preexisting manga. The only mention at all in the credits is Comic Bombom (the magazine that the manga ran in) being listed in the "publication" section.

Still, the manga was done before the anime, and who says Yoshimi Hamada is his real name? is very usual in japan to use fake names for doing a manga...

It was published first, and even then only by a few months. First installment of KNT in Comic BomBom: November, 1989. KNT TV Premiere: February 1, 1990. Evangelion's manga adaptation debuted in December of 1994, but the show didn't premiere until almost a year later in October of 1995. However, the manga was based on the show concept, not the other way around.

It's not impossible that the manga was around on its own first, but all the signs that I can see point to it being a tie-in to the show rather than its originator.

I'm think I heard somewhere that Speedy's in the 3"s. And besides, as short as these guys appear to be, who's to say they wouldn't be that small lined up with humans like Ryu?
