Behold the wonder that is ‘Blown Up with People!’

Supposedly hired by Bad Bird, Humpty Dumpty look-alike Captain Nitro and his self-detonating youth group are terrorizing Little Tokyo, so Big Al predictably sends for the Pizza Cats. Unfortunately, Polly has run off somewhere (lol!) leaving Speedy and Guido to contain the problem … which includes playing a little dodge ball! Don’t ask me why, Blown Up with People appears to have a big thing for ball sports.

This episode is comic genius! Even though it’s a little unfair on the girls of the series – thanks to Guru Lou and his elixir, which is meant to be the secret of eternal youth (but actually proves better for weight loss). Poor Polly, Francine and Lucille are sent running beyond borders, but Speedy and Guido resolve it’s all for the best. Francine and Lucille end up playing an integral part in the Pizza Cat’s victory … and while they’re gone, the boys can play cards all night! Eat all the pizza, etc.

Other highlights: Guru Lou is very funny in this ep (I like the bit where Francine attacks him with the frying pan, lol!). I also love Guido’s solution to Speedy’s airborne problem: “Speedy! FLAP YOUR ARMS!” Best – line – ever. 

Clearly one of my faves, 5 out of 5! *****

I noticed Polly was with Speedy and Guido during the transformations, which is impossible because she had already left running like crazy, by then. What's up with that?!

I mean, Polly left running before the cats turned into the SPC, right? When the cats transformed, Polly was there transforming with them and in later scenes, she was still seen running in her resturant clothes. Was that some type of goof or did the people behind the English version add the transforming scene in there just to make the episode longer for time?

I read on the SPC mysteries that there were scenes of Guru Lou going around touching on lots of girls in the KNT version. Is that true?

Yes. He gets grabby with an unnamed cat extra, Otama, and Omitsu (which causes her to launch her missiles at the giant combined robot). Cutting those scenes is probably why the SPC staff inserted the change/launch sequence which wasn't in the original episode, to fill in lost time. However, in doing that, they created the aforementioned inconsistency with Polly.

Hmm, interesting. Daisensai sure is a pervert compare to Guru Lou. I guess it's no coincidence that japanese anime seem to share this tradition to have ninja masters who have erupted minds of making out with females younger than their age.

This ep was real funny, but, uh, I felt that was kinda sexist (having only girls running around and then joking about it at the end of the episode). Besides this, it was one of the funniest SPC episodes.
