One of my favorite series of games to play is the Harvest Moon series of games.
For those of you who've never played any of them before, Harvest Moon's basic plot is this...

> Some how, you've inherited a farm. The farm is in a great amount of dis-repair and needs your TLC, hands, blood, sweat, and money in order to become a huge success again.

Durring the course of the game, you're also given the chance to begin dateing one of the lovely ladies of the near-by town. If things between you both go allright, then you begin a small family of your own.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My favorite game out of the entire series so far would have to be Harvest Moon 64. It's my favorite because it feels and looks like a culmination of everything Harvest Moon stands for. You have a huge array of crops, friend to be made, and a family to start.
Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life unfortunately hasn't peaked the interest out of me that Harvest Moon 64 did. U_U
I am not saying it's a bad game... it just... doesn't grab me in the same way it's predecessors did.
So... Any thoughts from the crowds about Harvest Moon series~? ^_^
Dude, harvest moon is like the best game I ever owned, well, for the consoles anyway. (HL2, and Command and Conquer series, RTCW = awesome)
I have the SNES, Harvest moon for Gameboy, HM 64, HM: Friends of mineral Town, and HM A wonderful life.
And out of all of those, I have only beaten, compleatly, the SNES one, and thats only because I played the rom. My cartridge for it is a valued keepsake, and I don't play it anymore.
For me:
HM 64 was cool, 'cept for some of the bugs.
Mineral town is great, you get slave labor (gnomes = free!!) and the horrible horrible engrish made it memorable, and cooking is made easy!
A wonderful life is so time consuming (45 min, a DAY) but added lots of new possibilites to the table. (trees, hybrids, etc)
When I went to EB games recently, I saw more friends of mineral town, and the new Wonderful life game.
I think I know why you didn't like AWL as much as 64 though, the dude didn't have a hat!
WAAAH!~ I LOVE HARVEST MOON!
The first time I played it was on an SNES emulator and I like it so much I got the N64 one which I find very good. If I had a playstation 2 I'd get the newer ones but I had to settle for The Gamecube one which is alirght except that there aren't any festivals in it Cry I have Harvest Moon 2 for my GBC but it's kinda like the GCN one in a sense that there aren't festivals and you can't get married(that really sucks). It's funny how a farming simulator can be so much fun.
I have HM64. It was the first one I've played. I've tried the GBA version too, and I liked them both. One of the boards I go to alot is a HM board and I've been keeping up with the DS version (only out in japanese so far)
Yup. It takes place in forget-me-not valley with FoMT graphics. You can marry any of the girls from AWl and FoMT as well as the Goddess, a mermaid, a princess and a witch (who might I say is hawt) but you need the girls version of FoMT to marry the mineral town girls.
You can also get 101 harvest sprites (you need 60 to get married), ducks, 4 or 5 different mines and a whole bunch of equipment such as hats that reduce stamina usage. There is also a sprite-run casino where you can buy/win medals used to pay sprites to work for you and get useful items, which can be sold for LOTS of cash (to van, who comes every day  that ends with 8 i think). There are many other fields that you can plant stuff in too, but some are of lesser soil quality than your farm. You can upgrade your crops too and make seeds using a seed maker.
Warning: discarding an item in a place other than your farm is considdered littering and drops a girls affection by 500. it takes 10,000 to up their heart level so it can add up fast. Luckly you can sell weeds/grass as well as having an inventory that stacks (one slot=99 of an item)
The guys from UnoT forums who ordered the first games have had a few major glitches, such as the ground tiles...changing...and the game locking up, forcing them to reload and skip the day. Same happens in the basement.
Hey, what about HM:Back To Nature?  Its the PS1 version that, unlike its N64 counterpart, quickly dissapeared. By luck I managed to find a new copy of it, and have played it since.
Somone else has to have played it before, right?
