I was in a used bookstore today and ran across an old issue of the Japanese magazine Animedia. It was from June 1990. I had to have it, since it had a blurb on KNT inside. In the "TV Anime City" section was a little schedule showing the upcoming next few eps at the time, as well as a few episode descriptions. The black/white picture: Ko'on-no-Kami. Smiley
I will scan the section of the magazine soon so someone can read it (Matsumoto Sensei, would you like to?). I hope I can find more 1990-1991 issues of Animedia and maybe stumble across one with KNT featured with color pics. I hope it exists.

Yes, if you are ever in a comic/anime shop and they have any Japanese animation magazines from the early 90s, it's always worth checking through them for any KNT articles.  The January 1990 issue of B-Club has a small KNT article about he show getting ready to go on the air.  I know there are a lot more, but we need to find them.

Hmmmm... I have an issue of the manga magazine Dokan from Spain from the year 1999 (I think) ... Was an issue dedicated to the Samurai based animes and have a page dedicated to SPC, If you want I also can scan and translate it for you... (In fact, I think they include them cause I sent them a letter asking info about Samurai Pizza Cats and with the CD that was attached to that issue I could see the KNT opening by thje first time and I also got for the first time KNTmusic, Ottodokoi Noihionbare and Yasu! Dokan? Darn, I think I saw issues of that years ago down here. But it was from Spain and horribly overpriced so I didn't buy it.

EDIT: No swearing please, thank you!

Someone's trying to sell a bunch of issues of that magazine for $6000 Colombian Pesos. ... which converts to like $2.60 USD. O_o The CD has a date of 1999, too. Hrm.

I'll get back to you in an hour or so regarding the translation. I'm working on it right now.

Samurai Pizza Cats
Kyatto Ninden Teyande
By Mary Molina

The Samurai Pizza Cats have shown up, taking down all the rules with them. The show was broadcast in our country by Antena 3. The show combines swords with giant robots and mechas in a hilarious way. The drawing style is very characteristic of the show, since it seems that all characters are made out of many different pieces - which gives them a very compact (small) appearance (look) (design). The story is quite simple (they had to give it a story, they couldn't start messing things up just because!)

We are in an age (time period) where old Edo (Tokyo's name in old times) and modern technology combine. The beings that inhabit this particular world are bio-cybernetic animals - half machine, half animal, of all breeds and colors...

The peace in Little Tokyo (Edoropolis) is disrupted every two or three days by an evil fox who calls himself El Gran Quesote (*Seymour Big Cheese); he dresses in a traditional manner and changes between a male or female appearance depending on his mood, and he always explodes every time he loses a battle (which happens quite often). A clan of crows are his henchmen (*The Karakara clan), whose general (leader) is an old man. The only one that's down to earth in such a villain's court (gang) is the clan's captain, who is always in a bad mood thanks to Seymour Quesote's constant nonsense. The good guys in this story are three charismatic felines who work undercover at a local pizza delivery place (since their normal job doesn't pay the bills). Speedy Ceviche (*Yattaro) is the so-called leader of the group, but his ineptitude is displayed in every episode; Guido Anchoa (*Sukashii) is a playboy, much like Aramis in The Three Musketeers. Rounding out the trio is Polly Esther (*Pururun), someone to look out for, who asides from having very little patience and getting angry rather easily, she is the only one with a bit of intelligence. She always plays a flute before attacking or when she is sad. Along with the aforementioned characters, the series has many supporting characters, among them the Emperor, whose function as Quesote's puppet is painfully obvious, and his daughter, Princess Violeta, who is the exact opposite of her peaceful father. She's a spoiled princess who is always in a bad mood, and whose hobby is to send her subjects to a deserted island. Then there's Lucille, a beautiful woman with rockets underneath her hairbow which blow up whenever she gets angry. Last, but not least, we have the Equipo De Rescate (Translator's Note: Rescue Team), four older cats, each piloting their own giant mech, and who also have special weapons. They help the Ninja Cats whenever they're in a lot of trouble. Their names are Rikkinoshin, Mietorti, Gotton, and Nekki.

After the television show (produced by Tatsunoko) ended, a manga was published, which continued the story right from the point where the television series ended. The story still takes place in Little Tokyo, where everyone is rebuilding the city after the meteor hit and Pajaro Malo (Translator's Note: Bad Bird) (now calling himself Pajaro Bueno) (Translator's Note: Good Bird) working for the Pizza Cats; this was not an official version - it was fan-made and can be called a doujinshi or parody, even if it is totally professional in both look and design.

... what an awful article. Tongue

I also noticed all the pictures from that article were from various SPC fan web pages that were up at the time.  Cel scans from the Nekofuji cel gallery, CDs and manga probably from my page, and colored doujin from Pzario's.

The article seemed to have some text lifted from your page as well. At least it felt like it was lifted.

I'm sorry to say, that was a common practice in those early internet days. Writers could pass off stuff they supposedly wrote as their own work - I've seen it before. And of course, all the stuff in the CD was lifted off the internet, I'm 99% sure they included the old, original MP3s that floated around in those days. Speedy Wink
