New International Boards

As you might have noticed, we have opened a new board for people who would like to post in Japanese.  Because it was my idea (influenced after seeing something similar on a J-Pop message board) and I helped set it up, the staff have allowed me to make this announcement officially opening this new category. 

Most Japanese KNT fans don't speak English well enough to feel comfortable posting in an English message board, but we want them to feel welcome here too.  Please respect the rules and do not post in English or anything but Japanese on this board. 

The Japanese board is just the first (since it was the hardest to set up).  Spanish and Portuguese boards are already in the works, and others can be added latter as the demand comes up.  We hope this will lead to more interaction between SPC/KNT fans from all over the world.  If you can post in any of these languages, you are welcome to participate, and we will encourage these non-English speaking fans to participate in the English boards as much as their language skills will allow, so please be understanding if someone doesn't post in perfect English.  Give them some credit for trying.  And don't worry, if there's anything really cool going on in one of the non-English boards, someone will share it with the rest of us on the English boards.  We already have a few members for whom English is not their first language, and they've brought a lot to Edoropolis Emporiums.  We hope these new boards will make us an even more international community.

I unfortunately can't speak other languages... but I see no problems with trying to be more avalible to those of other nationalities~

Hey, Kyo, don't worry, if something very cool happens to be posted in other language, we can encourage and help to post it in English too.   
I am expecting to see the Portuguese board. This could make me very happy indeed.

Only now I figured out that the moderators don't understand foreing languages. So they have no way to see how the international section is going.  Any problem?
By the way, the forum rules must be translated and make available to other languages. I may help to translate to Japanese and Portuguese.

I thought I made it clear that I speak nothing else.
It's not that I wouldn't mind speaking Japanese or writing Japanese...

I just can not. I am not willing to put the time needed into learning it at this juncture in my life. ... Not to mention I do not have the funding. ^^;

I think you misunderstand me, I am not asking the moderators to learn Japanese. I afraid only that the international section can be out of your control. The moderation is necessary, in my opinion, but in this case perhaps only who know Japanese can help. When I see something that breaks the forum rules, I'll notify the moderators. That's all.

I didn't translate any rules because I was once part of a Japanese KNT fan board on Yahoo! Japan, (YJ eventually deleted all their anime message boards) which operated just fine without the need for any rules.  In general, Japanese are well enough behaved that we don't really need to tell them not to start flame wars or troll.

Yeah, I agree, Japanese tend to have good manners so the rules are useless perhaps. However Brazilian have less discipline (I haven't much to say about Portuguese, I know so few them), so I advise to put a Portuguese translation of the rules. I'm tired to see improper conducts and insults presents in some discussions.

Couldn't you just appoint people to be mods for the international boards? And only for those boards.

It's much easier when a mod speaks the language and he/she can deal with the problem directly. Requiring a third party makes things harder and might just cause more trouble in the long run.

We must take care when generalizing, but yes, it's not rare to see Brazilian behaving badly not only in Internet, but in daily life too. We have many gentle and polite people here, but unfortunately all of us have the image dirtied by few rude guys.
