Haven't done one of these in a while ...
Princess Vi demands Speedy personally deliver her a pizza, because
“ … a pizza without the Speedy touch is like a day without a temper tantrum.” Unfortunately Emperor Fred gets a hold of the pizza and adds his
own personal touch. The result is so disgusting the Princess then sends Speedy AND Emperor Fred on a slow boat to China! Actually it’s more of a ‘ship’ then a boat. I guess ‘cause it’s the Emperor he gets an upgrade. Eventually Princess Vi has a change of heart, hearing how Speedy and her father are lost at sea. She goes to search for them, as do Polly and Guido. Bad Bird sets off as well – to make sure they’re dead of course. Meanwhile the Big Cheese takes over the city the only way he knows how: by wearing too much make-up, having a massive sculpture made in his honour and having billboards of himself plastered all over town.
An okay episode IMO. While shipwrecked, Emperor Fred spends time communing with nature while Speedy thinks about spaghetti and Lucille. Even though I don’t think its one of the better episodes of the series, it’s a personal favourite of mine because Guido tells Polly he wants to start a family with her some day. This was the start of my love for Polly/Guido. This episode – which was only two episodes away from the finale where Guido gets on one knee and ‘proposes’ to Polly that he’ll take care of her, was enough to send my nine-year-old romantic imagination into overdrive
Other perks: Emperor Fred says an actual line of comprehensible english and falls in love with … a turtle? Princess Vi says one of her most notorious lines ever:
“DON’T MESS WITH MY MUNCHIES!”. I also liked the references to the film 'The Ten Commandments', and how Guido kicked ass in the final battle scene.
