The soundtrack to Gradius Rebirth. This new Wiiware Gradius game has a very interesting soundtrack. It takes tunes from some of the lesser-known entries in the Gradius series (such as the NES ports, and the original MSX and Gameboy games) and remakes them in the style of the arcade Gradius II and Gradius III soundracks. The very same FM tones and PCM samples from the soundtracks of those two games are used. Recreating the styles of various old game soundtracks is something I have a lot of interest in and have been doing research on, and Gradius III in particular is one game whose soundtrack I like a lot and have been spending lots of time analyzing. So naturally, Rebirth's soundtrcak appeals to me a lot. I almost feel like it was made just for me.  |
