Owl City - Deer in the Headlights.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUVY2ehJ0qc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUVY2ehJ0qc</a>

Here's the music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtsX8H7xSek&ob=av2e

I'm linking it, because it contains a Back to the Future reference (aka, it has the Delorean time machine.)

Gee, it's been ages since I heard that Kraftwerk sample Speedy Wink (The first sound in the song Noah120 linked to.)

Yesterday I saw 'The Fall', a wonderful 2006 movie, but the intro music sticks to the brain:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqtPVEuAbzM
That made me want to hear Nobuo Uematsu's War of the Magi. Couldn't quickly find a correct version on Youtube, however Toki no Hourousha is based on its main theme:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnvXYJ_j0rw
The panflute melody is War of the Magi's. The added vocals and altered theme of Toki no Hourousha make it exhibit a far darker atmosphere than War of the Magi; more like an endless journey of sorrow whereas War of the Magi simply gives the feeling of a long journey. Btw: hats off to classical composers for being able to sometimes communicate not just a feeling, but a whole story through music alone.

Now I do realize that these 2 songs are part of a genre deemed "quality" by many. So I'm a bit concerned my post will attract Music Snobs. And everybody knows that can't be good for this thread: Music Snobs instantly evolve into Trolls as soon as they hear music with a low 4/4th metronome ("beat") in it, or any other kind of contemporary music.
I've included the following songs to repel them, all personal favorites as well:

Rolf Maier Bode can also convey stories in his music:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifNUJm8taeM

Even back when he was RMB, although somewhat less refined:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMWpGE7dVx0

Rotator is also great (if you don't hear "music" but "some sort of pulsating noise"; it's supposed to be like that) :

Aliencat, I LOVE that song. My family has multiple jazz musicians, and that's always been one of my top faves.  Polly Love

And now for something completely different. http://snd.sc/nIwMdi

aaaagghhh that jazz number --- my ears my eeaaarss I can't count it, this unnatural rhythm, 1 2 34 urh 1 23 4 arg! 12 3 4 getting di.. dizzy.... Tongue
But really, love that song too, it must be virtually everyone's favorite jazz song (or that Pink Panther song is). Someone introduced me to Bill Evans once, he's made some beautiful songs as well.
Nice one Aster! Massive Tongue

That Cutie Mark Crusaders remix has a definite mod feeling to it Speedy Wink

Just stumbled across this. I read about it before, but this little snippet makes the problem more clear than any number of words. The Loudness War:
