So...
One day I was walking in Best Buy with a few friends... when that unfortunate itch hits me.
You know the kind... the dad-gum itch to buy something when you know nothing about it.

Most of the time, the itch turns out to be a bad decision. This go around, I actually hit on something I've greatly enjoyed. Right up to the last episode!

Shakugan No Shana (henceforth now to be called Shana) is an Anime that is for the most part does things we've all seen before.
- Boy lives normal life.
- Boy has encounter which changes life.
- Girl falls in love.
- Girl has never known love, thus confusing her even more.
- Demons, monsters, and perverts with doll fetishes. (It's a joke from one episode. And no, it's not that sick.)

For me, the voice acting was beautiful. Each character was believable with the emotion that came from their voice and what the screen showed.
The animation is fairly good as well. I especially love the flaming hair blazing eyes hunter.

The story while simple, contains enough in it to keep the series going. It's basically Chaos versus Balance with Humans caught in the middle unfortunately.
Humanity remains completely oblivious to the battle. So much that the human lives which are lost are not missed. In other words, if you die, reality is "adjusted" to make it appear that you never existed in order to maintain the balance of the world.

Enough spoiling though...
I liked it, and plan on getting the Manga and Novels produced. I also hope to import a couple of soundtracks. The first opening song was pretty nifty. I didn't care too much for the songs made later-on. I wouldn't recommend this for young kids, however teenagers would probably like this.

My primary beef with the show thus far is the last episode.
The way they saved the heroine was fine, however I thought the explanation of how our hero survived was a little... weak.

So... Go! Buy it! Like it! ... Or at least watch an episode of Samurai Pizza Cats.  Speedy Wink

I started watching this about a month ago Grin
Its great!
would it be the first seasons last episode you dont like? cuz i dont relly think the explanation was that good either Undecided they expand on it in the second season though.
anyway, did you get Shakugan no Shana-tan and Itadaki no Hekate-tan in the box set as well? if you didnt, GET THEM! theres nothing better than the creators making fun of their own series Smiley
with a few OVAs and a third and final season coming, this anime has me hooked to no end  Grin

Yes it was. I was hoping that they'd expand on it more in the 2nd season if there were to be one. The way the last episode wrapped up it looked like there were plans to be a 2nd season. I'm glad they're making it (or have made it), I just hope that it gets brought over to the USA again. The primary concern being that the first season was licensed by Geneon whom now is defunct here in the USA.

I know I got at least two -tan shorts on the last DVD. I'll have to double-check to make sure they're what you're referencing. I agree, it's hilarious watching the shorts. ^_^

It's hard to say no to that flaming hair, and those blazing eyes isn't it?  Guido Smirk

Shakugan no Shana Second aired in Japan 2007 - 2008. right now there is an OVA series going on called Shakugan no Shana S.

Theres always torrents and fansubbs, thats were i got them anyway Roll Eyes (SS-Eclipse makes the best ones)
anyway, If you only got two Shana-Tan shorts, you might want to DL (or at least check out on youtube) Hekate-tan since its from the first season as well. Speedy Wink

EDIT
Oh! I forgot! Theres a movie as well that follows the original novel more closely.

well I've seen everything now but still can't stand it they didn't told each other that they like each other, but the anime is pretty good....I heard there might be a 3rd season, so I'll wait for that one.

it's also pretty funny that when you type "urusai" at google, you see a lot of pictures from Shana xD

to my opinion the 1st season was way to much action, there was almost no break of action. The 2nd season on the other hand was much better.

Slso something funny about the 2nd OVA, at the end they show a " dutch pannenkoek"....can't tell I've seen a pancake like that here in The Netherlands, but still it's pretty funny for me to see it  Grin
