I know it's not really a game, so I hope you don't mind me posting this in the Game Projects forum.

Anyway, was bored today so I installed devkitpro and palib. I haven't done much DS programming before, but I thought it would be fun to have a little SPC-themed demo to store on my DS flash cartridge. So, I grabbed Yattarou's walking animation from the KNT famicom game and some cool fan art from my collection, and put together a little demo. It's not really even worth downloading if you don't have a flash cart (just look at the picture, you'll understand). It should work in emulators and on the real hardware.

Follow this link to download or look at the screenshot: http://squarenipple.com/cabbage/ds.php
Or if you don't want to visit my site, here's a direct link to the .rar: http://squarenipple.com/cabbage/ds/spc-ds-cabbage-v0.rar

It was really easy to make... I hope this will inspire some people to look into making some more pizza cats software  Speedy Wink

Let me know what you think!

 Yikes!

edit: decided the demo needed more, and I like Yattarou's run animation, so I added run, jump (B,A buttons respectively).
Here's a link to the updated demo: http://squarenipple.com/cabbage/ds/spc-ds-cabbage-v0a.rar

Looks neat, though it would be nicer to have some music in there. So coding for DS isn't really that hard? Might check out, though I'm in progress of learning ActionScript...

Hey, thanks for the support!  Polly Love

Music would be nice (and maybe will come later); I was just reading up on playing .MOD's on the DS last night! (Has anyone made any SPC / KNT related .mod's?? if not, is anyone good at making MOD music? kekeke~)

Coding for the DS seems pretty simple so far. I honestly don't know what I'm doing (though I have written some simple games for GB in the past, which could help...a little) but that demo was very easy to make--with a little (self-taught) knowledge of C. I have worked some more on it and hope to release a new demo in the not-too-distant future...  Speedy Wink

Personally, I say if you have been learning ActionScript, go with that! Flash can make some wonderful SPC games (I have no doubt!), so I say we should work with what is handy to us. At the same time, if I end up expanding my SPC DS efforts, I would ideally like to see the fan community become involved in some way. So, I welcome any and all input/feedback re: what SPC related games ya'll would like to see.

Of course, if anyone is keen on trying their hand at making some stuff on the DS, I would be happy to lend a helping hand! We could meet up in the IRC chatroom or something. I plan on releasing the source code for fans later on, in the hopes that maybe it inspires some more (fan-made) SPC games. If you wanna see my source while it's in progress, just send me a message via PM or IRC or something.

I love SPC games! Yikes! Hohoho

Great pic you used for the backdrop, wish I could remember where it came from...

I've actually been considering expanding into MOD with my KNT soundtrack recreation work. I don't know much about the DS's specs, but you'd be welcome to try and use anything I end up posting.

Feliniki~ would love it if you made some MOD's! I don't know for sure what the DS's limitations are yet, but fewer channels=better probably...

I don`t have a Nintendo console, but I found program to open this file: Desmume.

1) Can you make Speedy Cerviche sword a little longer?

2) You can decrease the time it takes Speedy Cerviche to travel off the screen (he disappear for about 5 seconds when you make him go outside the screen while going strictly left or right).

3) After such walk he becomes invulnerable but also he can`t attack any Bad Bird clones
See video: http://www.zshare.net/video/688191818629a8ef/

4) Waiting for Polly Esther and Guido Anchovy
Guido Anchovy can use his umbrella, and Polly Esther - Bitou Kirakira sword. (Her claws are sharp but it`s dangerous to let your enemy come too close)

Keep on creating Smiley

This pretty interesting. Maybe if you have enough time, you could try making an original KNT game, with the ability to to use the touch screen for some fancy function-thingy.
