Discuss SPC:  Episode 1 on this thread.

Well, it was definitely evident that it was the first episode.  The Narrator opened with a description of Little Tokyo that you HAD to admit was different, and quite funny.  Afterward, they go on to explain some of the characters (without really describing them, just sort of introducing their personalities).  Of course, the Dragon (that the animators must've worked all night to draw) was kind of funny, as you saw recycled scenes THREE times.  Mom and Kid talk about the Pizza Cats polluting the atmosphere , hinting that they've done this before.  Then it's all topped off with a 2-minute-long fight that looks like something out of a bizarro episode of Power Rangers.

Positive Side +

- The jokes were fresh and classic (Powerpuff Girls ripped off of this episode).
- They showed the 'skating' for the first time.
- Francine (cutest character) wanted to throw Guido and Speedy down a well and drown them.
- Ka-BOOM.

Negative Side -

- As in the first six episodes, they cut out a few snippets (the ninja crows getting their faces burned off, for one).

All in all, great episode, especially for a pilot episode.

SBaby will be back next week for another episode review.  Till then, later.

A great episode, what I liked more was that all the cats used their weapons to defeat the dragon. The jokes where really funny, specially the dragon legs one.

Un excelente episodio, lo que mas me gusto fue que todos los gatos usaron sus armas para vencer al dragón. Las bromas fueron bastante graciosas, especialmente la de “Piernas de dragón”.

I think this was very adequete for a pilot episode with just about any introduction of the main characters we will see often in the series. The fake dragon was different compared to many robots, as it had a non-comical and kinda scary realistic appearance and did not have a beak. This pizza delivery scene is one of many deliveries not shown as in this, we can see how far Speedy and Guido's rivallry can go from pursuing down one alley to chasing among the roof tops to getting run down by a passing cart.
This episode also shows some jealously amongst the pizza cat girls over Lucille, which results in sarcasm that even Polly is not comfortable and complaining against a innocent customer because of that jealously.
Not a bad episode, but good for a pilot.

Yeah, the dragon was one of the few beakless robots in the series...  I didn't even think about that.

The part that joins the legs together has a beak.

A Samurai Pizza Cats is cross between a cat on a pizza with a sword next to him, thus the creation of the kooky show

The very first episode and one of its best. I like this episode mainly the one part that I like. When Speedy and Guido race off and do a game of one-upmanship against each other in order to deliver one pizza to the lovely Lucille. Classic cartoon gag. Gotta love it. I also like the way they both argue about environmental issues is just great. Even though it's a little stupid, but hey, it's all good. I highly recomend this episode to anybody that wants to see the SPC for all time.

I'm pretty much a new fan to this XD My boyfriend sent me a copy of this episode for me to watch last night. I had heard of Pizza cats before but sadly I dont think I ever got the chance to see it as a kid (ITV put it on at an ungodly time such as 6am, and generally I only ever got up early for the Sonic cartoons on Channel 4 or the Disney Stuff that used to be on).

I have to say, Sabian win for the way they actually dubbed this cartoon. I love how they dont just rip out any reference to Japanese culture in the show and the fact that the humor is actually above slapstick. I giggled about the dragon attacking a village for "Retired Ninja Turtles" and the "You may be just a cartoon character painted on a cellouid sheet to some but to me your everything" chat up line by Guildio Anchovy to Lucille. If this episode is considered a weaker episode (from what I can see via the reviews here) I think I'm going to quite enjoy the other episodes of this show ^_^.

Yeah, even the weaker episodes are good.  But actually the vast majority of the show is different from the original.  Making Samurai Pizza Cats and Kyatto Ninden Teyandee! two entirely different beasts.

And that's Speedy's line. Tongue

Double's personal favourite quotes

Customer: Waiter, this cheese is moldy!
Speedy: So what? You gotta eat your greens, don't ya?

Narrator: Little Tokyo, home of the Samurai Pizza Cats pizza parlour, where'll you'll find the bravest heroes on Earth, --the customers!

--------

This episode had some great one liners early on, but I just found its plot was way too linear to put near the top of my list. Indeed, a suitable intro to the series, but not nearly enough of the spontaneous humor that made later episodes so great, IMO. And the "Robot-O'-The-Day" had no personality. >=(

7/10 from me.

I think my favorite line has to be one that I never caught, even during my Pizza Cats revival last year.

Bad Bird: This is more fun than throwing water bombs at a drowning man!

If they really wanted to portray the Big Cheese as the mortal enemy of the Pizza Cats, why isn't he a dog?

the things I thought was pretty too bad was also that some parts were cut off and they actually forgot to speak at 1 moment, when the spcs are fighting the dragon you see badbird in the background jumping, he actually supposed to say something. If it would've been translated from the japanese version it would be: DIE! DIE! Samurai pizza cats!

a very possitive point is that the characters were painted way more better then the other episodes. too bad they probably used other drawers in the other episodes. I really thought that episode `no talent guido` was the most ugliest. Polly-francine and lucille were just so ugly.

Just while I was watcing the episode today, I realised that Guido actually called Speedy a Neo fascist while they were fighting over Lucille. Yikes!
no kids cartoon would get away with that today Tongue

I wish Lucille were real so she could do that to some of the news stations.
