I suppose she's busy. She's still alive and kicking though, that I can guarantee!

I hope you're right. I haven't seen her much doing any activity on this forum since November. I hope that is the case that she is busy. I can't wait to see more fansubbed episodes in the near future.

I've received some e-mails from Tigriss, she is alive and active. The last time I received her e-mail, she said to have been without Internet for sometime.   Don't worry, she hasn't gone, and you can expect more work being done.

Oh okay. That's cool. Understandable. That happens to a lot of people. As long as I know that she's still out there. I'm cool. Glad that she's still around.

Supersonic already knows I don't have much to say about this other than:
Okay, I get it Yattaro. Teyandee is serious business.

Yeah...

But SPC is funnier and since is hard to make a funny show, SPC wins. Besides if KNT was funny, most of the jokes would have been to be cut out in SPC since they would be unfunny in English.

Several months after its release, this episode still is the only one subbed to English. More episode is on the way, but things is going in slower pace than expected, despite all efforts done by the Dream Project. The good side of this deliberation is the work being carried out with great care, since the main aim is to get the higher accuracy possible in the translation.

Despite some time passed since its release, I feel this episode still deserves a few more discussions and comments. Broadly speaking, this one isn't as deeper as some later episodes, perhaps due to the introductory nature of the initial episodes of the series. It's still developing some plots introduced by KNT 01 (for example, Seymour Cheese congratulates  Big Al Dente for settling the case of the mecha dragon, but warns him about new troubles that may come further),

Some interesting points in my opinion are:
  • Lucille shows an unseen side of her personality, demonstrating how much she cares about her brother and the courage in the confrontation against the sushi robot;
  • otherwise, Lucille ignores completely Speedy Cerviche when he is courting, only noticing him after trampling on his head;  Grin
  • Speedy Cerviche demonstrates why he's the leader of Nyanki; Guido Anchovy is trapped on the sushi (it seems he's trapped by the shame, but not because was physically tied to the block of rice), and he moves only when Speedy Cerviche orders him to save the Lucille's brother;
  • the OO-EDO history lesson is great and very funny indeed; the fictitious shogun Tokugawa Tsunasarada was based in a real life shogun, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, to whom is attributed an order that forbade all mistreating against animals. It was said that the people caught doing any harm to animals were severely punished during Tsunayoshi's enthroned period (there are some controversy about the truth of this history, but it's still believed by many people).

I watched it over the weekend... Rather cracked up over the differences and how seriously it seemed to take itself.

Overall, alot made more sense... especially that scene where Big Al thwacks Speedy with the fan.  And the Explanation of Polly's powers was very nice, if kind of a 'oh duh' moment after you hear it.

But all in all, I'll take the SPC over the KNT... although now I'm really, really curious as to how the KNT story progresses.  (One of these days, I ought to get down to actually learning that language, instead of just intending to...)

Polly's move is scary in the Japanese version Yikes!

I like the speeches when they're introduced they make much more sense in this. I mean how obvious could it be in SPC. The name of the team is Samurai Pizza Cats and theres a restraunt named Pizza Cats just downtown.

Episode 2:  Some major differences I noticed:

--At the beginning, Lucille's brother is drunkenly stumbling around, while in the English version he's walking home with his eyes closed on a dare.  Seems like a change to "clean up" the content, but I found the English way a bit funnier, possibly because it's such a perverse idea.

---The Nyanki are trying to hide their identities from everyone else, which seems kind of absurd, since the difference between their hero outfits and their civvies consists of an apron.

--There was a lot more explanation in the show, including the scholarly guy lecturing on tons of stuff, as well as the small discourse on   Polly Love's special Claw attack (the "Claws That Refreshes").

About one year after the releasing of our very first KNT subbed episode, I found the real meaning of one of the lines. Matsukiti (Omitsu's brother) says something when is hypnotized by Gennarisai, but it was obscured by noises. Tigriss and me never agreed about the correct speech, but we have no clue to know who was right.
I was browsing around Teyandee Daijiten (Teyandee Dictionary) and found the correct speech in the article about Edomae #5 (the giant sushi making robot). Omitsu's brother said:

「やめろぉけっぱくるぞぉ!」
"Yameroo keppakuru zoo!"
which means: "Stop! I'll kick you!"
I have been not entirely satisfied for leaving this question unsettled, but now finally am feelling relieved.

I guess I would be a jerk if I asked for a better version of this episode to be made, so I wont^_-. Is just the version I have or KNT1 had a bigger screen resolution?

The first episode did have a bigger resolution, because the source video did as well. All of the other episode recordings we currently have are at 320x240, but a 640x480 version of Ep. 1 was also found, so it was used for the sub.

I'm glad you managed to figure out that line, Daisensei. That dictionary site really is a great source of info.

Yeah, that's the eternal problem.  Most of what is available (if you can find it) is a small file to make it easy to save on a hard drive or send over the web.

And since at the time, Video to computer & Video encoding weren't as good as they are now...  Well, let's just be glad Tsuneko found the french DVDs, and beyond that for the fact that he's working on sharing those with the rest of us.

I wonder if the Japanese have KNT on DVD...

Nope, there aren't any KNT DVDs. There seem to be quite a few Japanese fans who want them, though. Some of the most common comments I come across on Japanese site relating to KNT are along the lines of "Why haven't they released it on DVD?" or "I hope they'll make DVDs". There were VHS releases, but they only covered a bit less than the first half of the series. Tsuneko mentioned a laserdisk release, but I don't know anything else about that.
