Late Night Stories from the Day Prior...

So... Earlier this evening I was sitting in my chair, watching "El Hazard : The Wanderers" (excellent anime by the way) when I hear a knock at the door...
Looking up at the clock, I notice that it's late. You know the kind of late, the "who the heck is knocking at my door!?" kind of late.

Upon getting up & looking through the eye-glass, I see a Pizza Delivery man... Thus confusing me even more.
I open the door, and thus begins this conversation...

Kyo : *Quizzical look.* Yo~

Pizza Guy : Hey, um, is this Apartment 21?

Kyo : *Repressing a look a disbelief, and containing other emotions trying not to be rude.* Err... No... This is kinda number 18. *Points up to his door which has the number 18 on it.*

Pizza Guy : Oh! Well... Do you know where 21 is? I mean, I found 19 and 20 *Gestures over to doors on his left.*

Kyo : *Nearly at a loss for words.* Err... well... I don't really know myself. I'd guess they'd be on the next floor up. I've never been to that apartment myself... so... yeah... sorry.

Pizza Guy : Oh! Ok... Well... Thanks anyway.

Kyo : Yeah, have a good night. *Closes & locks door.* O_o ....

So... yeah. Seemed like a nice enough guy... Just... I mean... Maybe he's illiterate... or... just tired. I... still am quite amazed that he'd make such an obvious mistake on counting.
I mean... 18 doesn't equal 21 last time I checked. ... Or has some new fangled counting system been put in place when I wasn't looking?

Kyo : *Quizzical look.* Yo~

Pizza Guy : Hey, um, is this Apartment 21?

Kyo:  It's about time!  Do you know how long I've been waiting for that pizza?  You can tell your manager that I'm not paying for it.

Fix'd.  9 times out of 10, this gets you a free pizza.  Also, it's fun to wait outside of apartment buildings with cash on hand, ready to intercept people's pizzas.

I actually had a similar thought..

Maybe he was dyslexic? I don't know if that effects the ability to read numbers, though. It could also be that he's just really, really tired. I tend to make similar mistakes when I run low on energy. :L

Watch the original El-Hazard OVA. I haven't seen The Wanderers but I heard it's not comparable to the original.

Nope, modern written numbers. If our apartment doors had Roman numerals, I'd have cut the dude a little more slack.

Watch the original El-Hazard OVA. I haven't seen The Wanderers but I heard it's not comparable to the original.

I'll have it on my "To get" list, however at the current price of $90 new, I'm going to have to hold off on it for a while. ^^;
Besides, I'm deeply enjoying The Wanderers thus far. ^_^
