I'm not sure how accurate Wikipedia is on this... but according to that this is the year of the "Metal" Rabbit.  Yikes!

Yeah, last year was the year of the Tiger, so that's what's up with Speedy and Polly down there. The big kanji next to them is for the sign of the Tiger, and the big kanji next to Violet is "rabbit" (the normal word for "rabbit", not the one for the zodiac sign, for whatever reason). "2011NENHA WARAWANOTOSIJYA" means "2011 is my year!", and "SIMANAGASI" is, or course, "exile to an island" (it's hard to find Japanese fanart of Violet that doesn't include this phrase in some form...)

I should do some Princess Vi fanart to commemorate this occasion. And I feel bad that I let the Year of the Tiger slip by so easily, especially considering my fondness for the big felines.
