"When the Zombies show up, just sit there and don't do anything. You win the game when the Zombies get to your houze." : The Zombies
So, earlier this weekend I was hanging out with a college buddy of mine. A while back I saw him playing a game on his XBox called
Plants vs Zombies.
The name of the game sounded silly, so I didn't bother even looking at it... Well... Till this weekend.
So I log on, and begin playing the game.
Next thing I know I'm logging onto the internet with my Nintendo DSi, and downloading the game for my own portable pleasure.
As the name of the game implies, the premise is that you are defending yourself from an onslaught of Zombies trying to invade your home.
Instead of going out shopping for heavy artillery however, you decide to use your green thumb to cultivate plants in your yard to fight back against the oncoming horde of Zombies.
Despite all logic stating that this is a loosing strategy, it is actually surprisingly effective.
The game's pacing is just right. It starts off the introduction of new plants slowly so you can get used to them, then speeds things up so you apply the new techniques.
As the game progresses, your batch of plants to choose from grows. There are an amazing number of plants each with different abilities.
The key thing to remember is you need to follow what strategy works best for you. Each level is kind enough before you start to show you the types of Zombies you'll be facing.
This gives you time to prepare and choose what you want to plant wisely.
However, this isn't all. The game loves to mix things up during various levels.
In earlier levels you bowl for Zombies. In later levels you are given plants at random and are forced to make quick decisions to weapon placements.
The difficulty is a nice gradual increase.
Oh, the music. The glorious, simple, beautiful music.
Yah, I like it.
There are also nice extra features.
An almanac that contains biographies of the plants you come across as well as the the Zombies you go up against.
A few other modes I'm sure I haven't discovered yet.
The Good : The simplicity, the length, the extra features, the music.
The Bad : The Zombies. I don't want my brains eaten.
The Ugly : Zombies riding Zombie Dolphins. Trust me, you'll understand if you play the game.
I believe this game is available for every system out there. I highly recommend it.
Also, if you like the music in the game as much as I do, I recommend going to this site.

Also for at least $3.99 (or more if you feel like showing your appreciation) you can get a digital download copy of the songs.
