Just to those who might possibly be concerned, Mother 3 has an official release date for the lucky folks of Japan. 

It'll be released on April 20th this year.

It makes me wonder what the game will be like. It's music is nice and slow... like Mother before it.
Yet it's got more flavor and life like Mother 2 (Earthbound) before it...

I personally have never played it.   But,  the way you described it ........ and its also an RPG ......... I think I might give this Earthbound thing a shot.

I'm gonna hop off the bandwagon here and say my 2 cents.

I've played EB and I must say, it's not appealing at all to me.

The whole fight system and crappy dialogue isn't funny or clever, it's rather annoying.

I'll just stick with the classics such as Chrono Trigger and FF VI (and VI) and remain happy.

Take my opinion for what it's worth, we all have and deserve them. If you like the game, great, play it over and over again!

Yeah, I'm REALLY excited for this. EarthBound was one of my all time favorite games for the SNES. Sure, the battle system completely ripped off Dragon Quest, but it's still a great game. It was a really quirky and humorous, and I loved it. The enemies were fantastic (Master Barf was a riot). The game had fantastic atmosphere and the music was awesome. God, I need to play this again.

And Burke, if you've fully played through it, or at least played as much as you can stomach, then I guess EarthBound's not the game for you. And that works. 

I don't care for Chrono Trigger nor any of the Final Fantasy-s that much, so I guess it all balances out in the universe somewhere. Don't get me wrong, they're for the most part good games. However I have yet to get the type of ending EarthBound has given me from any of those games. ... Although in all honesty, I have yet to beat any of those games. EarthBound is the only RPG I have ever fully completed. ... And chances are it'll probably be the only one.

I'm still thinking HEAVILLY on pre-ordering the GBA Micro pack from play-asia.com ... It'd cost me about $240 which is why I'm thinking hard on it...
