Much like most remakes, they suck.

Sept' of course, the remake of the 1930's Scarface to the 1980's Scarface, that was brilliant.

I just heard about it on the MSNBC news web site. They said that Disney bought the Pixar studio at about 4.7 billion dollars. The reason for that was because Disney decided to move towards more digital due to the success of the Pixar films in past decade.

Which means no more traditional animation from Disney. We'll be seeing more computer animated films from Disney. That really sucks for me. Although I'm still a Disney fan, I just would like to still see traditional animated films from Disney. I hope they're will be in the near future because if we see nothing, but computer generated then...I just don't know. I like old fashioned animated films. (sighs)  Sad  Cry

Yup. Disney's buying Pixar for $7.4B.

---

"Disney has just announced that it will purchase Pixar Animation Studios in a deal worth around $7.4 billion in stock, making the animated studio a wholly owned subsidiary.

Chief personnel involved in the deal include Steve Jobs, Ed Catmull, and John Lasseter. Jobs will become Disney's largest individual shareholder and will hold a seat on the Disney board of directors; Catmull will become president of the combined Disney and Pixar animation studios, reporting to Disney Studios CEO Dick Cook; and Lasseter will become the 'chief creative officer' of the combined animation studios. Lasseter will also become a chief advisor to the Walt Disney Imagineering group, devising new attractions for the Disney theme parks. In both roles, Lasseter will report directly to Disney CEO Bob Iger.

A conference call is scheduled for 5:15pm Eastern Time. Toon Zone will have more on this important breaking story as it unfolds."

Edit: In other news... UPN, WB networks to merge.

I can see then two possibilities:
1- Disney animations gaining more creative impulse in its further works, with improved quality both in the graphic and in the story;  Smiley
2- Pixar producing poorer and cheaper works than its usual standards, pushed down by Disney thirst for profits.  Sad
Does anyone have any opinion about?

I think I agree to that statement. Because as a former Disney Employee, I saw a few posters of their upcoming animated films. Along with their distribution of Cars. And the works that are made all from Disney looks to be pretty good and the animation looks terrific. And upon seeing the trailers for Cars, it looks to be like a B or a B+ movie and that's not a good thing for Pixar. I can see why that Pixar finally gives in to be bought by Disney because they are starting to run out of good ideas and Disney is just getting started.

I mean, Chicken Little was #1 in the box office for two weeks in a row around November. Not many movies became #1 twice in a row. Especially during the summer of last year. I only saw two movies during the summer of last year that became #1 twice in a row. Now that's a good sign. I've seen Chicken Little a couple times and it seems to be a good decent movie. I like the beginning and towards the middle of the movie because it has a good plot in there, but when it came to the end and with the part of and alien invasion. That just did it for me. Chicken Little was good, but knowing Disney. They could've done better with that.

I think it's a smart move by Disney. So that they can two animation studios in their lots and they can do twice as much animated movies in their pocket and finally do some quality cartoon films for once. Because ever since Tarzan, some of those animated movies they made didn't do as well as their predecessors in the late 80s and all of the 90s. So, let's keep our fingers cross and see Disney became a great animated film studio like it had in the past.

Stay away from “continues”, like second or third parts, especially Bambi 2…
