SPC & KNT DVD boxed sets being released
KNT game translated
New KNT toys being released
Awesome art from Tenko uploaded on a regular basis

My younger self is currently yelling at me and demanding to know why I'm not as excited as I should be. Don't get me wrong, this is all wonderful news, I'm just more like "Oh hey, that's pretty cool. It's about time." instead of being super jazzed up about everything like I would have been before. I guess that's irony for you. All the good stuff in the fandom happens after my days of being a die-hard fanatic have passed.
I suppose once the boxed sets have been released, I'll have to rekindle my love for this series. It's been far too long.

Maybe order a pizza and have an all day SPC marathon when the DVDs come out? Or savor it little by little, an episode or two at a time?
Probably none of us are the fanatics we used to be, we've pretty much been deprived of the source of our "fannish-ness" for years. Sure we have some decent copies to download, and while I appreciate all the work people like Tsuneko did, I'm deleting all those when I have my DVDs, because we all know it's just not the same.
Plus, face it, we're all older now. We just don't get excited as easily as we used to. Doesn't mean we don't like something, we're just a little more "mature" about it I suppose.

It happens. People move on to other things, and they simply get older, as Violet mentioned. And with something like SPC/KNT that had no real developments for well over a decade, it's not surprising that interest waned over the years. Although if I'm any indication, these things never really truly leave you. Even if only occasionally, I still think about things that I was a big fan of years and years ago. I'd like to think that this sudden release of DVDs and merchandise is a good opportunity for people who used to be fans but have since moved on to be brought back into the fandom, and also to possibly attract new people who would have otherwise never heard of the show.

I remember how much I used to draw the Pizza Cats and spend a lot fo time writing fanfics and dreaming about new videogames about them... After some years I just grew up, found a job and new responsiblities so my head was filled with other stuff... Now, I don't draw or watch cartoons too often, being an adult fills your head with lots of stuff that push your childhood and youthful stuff behind; anyway, all the recent activity has kept me really excited (That's a signal that my younger self isn't totally dead), since the Capcom vs Tatsunoko rumors the Pizza Cats passion has slowly returned (Although a bit weaker than years ago); the important thing is that we all are still here and the DVD and toys news have touched us... It's nice to finally see results also all those years being here...

I think it's just us growing older (and fully embracing it) that makes us this way. Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy that we're getting the show on DVD (finally), but I also realize that while I am still child-like at times, and that while I still play the same video games/watch the same shows that I did when I was a kid, I'm still an adult with hopes, dreams, and responsibilities.
The SPC (I got into it about a month or so before it was taken off syndication) and everything else will always be a part of me, but times are changing--and you either change with the times or live in the past.

It's not that my "fandom" for SPC has changed. I'm just not really into the message board thing anymore. Aside from all this:

...a message board is all we have for this fandom.
I prefer to be involved with a fandom. We are a tiny bunch of peolpe and there's nothing much to be involved with.
There are no large scale meetups. No dedicated convetion booths/panels. No livestreams of the latest fanmade fighting games. No interviews with the show creaters. No documentaries produced by John "friggn" De Lancie.
I did have a recent bump into Dmac, and learned of all his latest successes. That kinda got me thinking back to this place.
By no means am I calling it quits on SPC. I will always have a tiny flame going for it. There is a good chance the DVDs will spark a new interest again. I will definitly pay homage to SPC whenever I can, with whatever I do.

Well to be fair SPC came out before the boom of the internet and before the world and fans were so globalized and interconnected, and was during a period where the only amount of fan communication could happen by mail and message boards and posts. There fore it naturally missed out on having all those things Mechadon listed. In comparison to today's shows and fads which manage to get that sort of reception and fan involvement due to the majority of the world being so linked together and in real time. Meaning a naturally larger and more casual fanbase can be formed quicker and co-ordinated. And so when having larger fanbase theres more resources and talent to pull, hence the constant endless influx of fan games, animations, music comics and cons for things like say Tohou or MLP. But to compare SPCs fanbase to say either of those is completely unfair due to the circumstances SPC originated from and the limitations of the time period it came out in, the world was completely different back then, and what you have now are the few dedicated fans from that period and a few new ones from along the way.
If SPC had been done in this day and age it may have received the same sorta reception and massive, hyperactive fanbase. But hey at least this DVD release and toys should kick some more life into it all round, this also can depend on how well it get spread around "chan" type communities and other largely populated communities.

The Saturday morning cartoon rush and the excitement of finding a lost childhood show on the internet after over a decade are long gone and they're not coming back. Even if they decided to reboot the series in the original style and quality... would be cool but... eh. It takes too much to get me excited these days. This goes for most of my old interests.
But if you're anything like me, you associate this show with good times and times where you related to the characters in various ways, and that doesn't change. I'll always remember SPC with fondness no matter what. And thinking about it and the kind of attitude I had because of it during that nostalgia period helps to ground me. There was like a radiating aura of awesomeness around this show that ultimately nothing replaced.
Damndest thing is I actually relate more to the characters today than back then. Every character in this show makes a fool of himself at some point, but they turn around and get the job done anyway and they still enjoy life when things get crazy. That's a hint about what my life's been like for the past 3 years. Thinking about this show reminds me not to take things too seriously and stuff.
Still, at the very least, like you guys I'm going through the whole DVD release in a weekend or two after it comes out. And can finally get rid of those 3-4 backups of low-quality AVI/RM rips (that's how you know it meant something... can't delete).

The pizzacats.com site thing? Wow!
Yes this is awesome, I should be probably more exited about this, I dunno, I guess I had used to the idea we would never get a DVD release, the best I hoped was a USA/Canada only digital release of the show is a "pay for download" thing.

It used to be that this show was on my mind almost nonstop, back when I didn't have a more general knowledge of anime cluttering up my skull. I was happy to contribute what little I could. Nowadays I barely give this show any thought, and any ambitions I used to have are gone.
Don't know if that's going to change after I get the DVDs or not, but I hope it does. It's been far too long.

The show is still funny after all those years, in fact, now that you undertand all of the jokes you might find it even more funnier.

I have to watch the rest of the show, first. Been a decade and a half or thereabouts, and I still haven't seen all the episodes.

I just managed to get logged back in... I forgot my username, and tried to register a new one, but it seems like no one is checking the new registrations? Anyway, my life has been really crazy for the past 4 years, and I just found out about the DiscoTek releases (and I'm psyched). I really hate that Edoropolis has trailed off in terms of traffic, though. Here's hoping it will pick up with the new DVDs, I'd hate to see this place die off.

This may be true. And I definitely plan to marathon some SPC/KNT once I get the chance, and I'll drag a friend along for the ride if I can.

This right here. Our community may be tiny in comparison, but we are dedicated and loyal. How many of these other fandoms do you think will have the same members stick around more than ten years after their show is off the air? I'm sure there will be a few, but it seems like the majority of people move on from one flavor of the week to the next. If you're a Pizza Cat fan, you're pretty much a Pizza Cat fan for life.

It's what makes the show one of the best. I know that when I get my hands on it, I will be doing a livestream of some episodes. I will post a link when closer to the release date.

I am older now, that's for sure. Older and busier. It's been six years since I joined here, 20 years since the show was on TV. With other, more active fandoms I've discovered since then, I almost forgot about this place for a long time. I didn't even know the show had been released on DVD until I logged in tonight and saw you all talking about it. They look great, but they're too expensive!
I hope they'll drop in price if I wait.

I got my SPC DVDs last Friday, so last Sunday night, a friend and I had our own little pizza party and watched a bunch of episodes. Then we watched more the next night, and repeated this a few more times throughout the week. It was great, I really enjoy watching the Cats on TV again. I'd forgotten how long the previews for the next episode are, and they seem to sum up almost the entire plot, but I guess they had time to fill after all the cuts that were made. I also had to explain what "animaloids" are to my friend. I'm so used to it by now, I forgot that it can be a little weird the first time you learn about it, but everything makes a lot more sense afterward.
Right now my DVDs are temporarily on loan and I'm hoping they might be used to win us some new fans. We'll see what happens. But the most important thing is that I'm rekindling my love for the show once again. If there's anyone out there who has yet to do so, trust me, the nostalgic rush of joy you get from finally owning this series is well worth the cost.

Any rushes of nostalgic joy are going to have to wait until the end of the month/beginning of next month to see how much I have left over after my dog's annual checkup. That's assuming that I don't crack before then.
