Hello, everyone. After some thinking, I've decided to have a DVD giveaway. I will deliver a fresh and tasty* boxed set of SPC (or KNT, should you so desire) to one lucky member of our community. And our resident mAster artist has generously volunteered to throw in a little bonus gift, as well as a second place prize for another lucky member. You can win a drawing of the SPC character or characters of your choice simply by participating more here at the Edoropolis Emporium.

*Warning: Food metaphors should not be taken literally and DVDs should not be taken internally.

Here's how it works. The contest begins now and ends a week or two sometime after the SPC boxed set is officially up for sale. To help me keep track of things, all those wishing to participate must post in this thread once they have finished whatever they've chosen to do with a link, picture, or other proof of their efforts. The winners will be chosen at random. The rules for participating are as follows:

Grand Prize: DVD boxed set of your choice + drawing of SPC character(s) of your choice by Aster Crow

In order to be eligible for the grand prize, you must do one of the following:

  • Participate in the Impromanga! It doesn't matter if your art is fabulous or not, as long as you can draw beyond stick figure scribbles, you're welcome to join in. This project is dying much like the last one, and I think it's high time we revived it.
  • Get a new member to join EE. Now, don't go around pestering one of your friends or random person you talk to online who doesn't even know what a Pizza Cat is to just sign up. But if you know someone who might be interested in the series and has seen at least one episode, and you think they would like to participate in our little community, by all means, send them here.
  • Make a music video. This takes a lot of effort, I know. But it's actually a lot easier to do now than when I started out. And I know from personal experience that sometimes just watching one music video can be enough to get a person interested in a series, and frankly, we could use more Pizza Cat AMVs.
  • Participate in other SPC/KNT related projects. To be a little more specific, something like game or music projects. Maybe crafts of some sort, like clay sculptures, cross-stitching, or even macaroni art. Fanart and fanfics are nice, but in order to be eligible for the grand prize, go the extra mile and do something unique that will really impress the community.
  • Finally, if you still have a Pizza Cat website from Ye Olden Internet Days, brush the dust off that thing and spruce it up a little. You don't have to give the entire thing an overhaul, but do something more than just changing the front page and writing an entry in your updates log. Links to EE and perhaps a notice that we finally have KNT & SPC on DVD (plus an artbook and toys!) after all these years would also be good.

Second Place Prize: Drawing of SPC character(s) of your choice by Aster Crow

In order to be eligible for the second place prize, you must do one of the following:

  • Write an episode review for the Critic's Corner. I know this'll be easier to do once you have the DVDs to watch, but it shouldn't be that hard to find some episodes online if you don't already have some downloaded.
  • And this may seem like something that's primarily serving my interests, but participating in the "Lost and Found" thread might just earn you an entry if you can't think of anything else to do. Besides, it's my contest anyway. Speedy Wink

So there you have it. A chance to win DVDs and awesome art. Plus you'll be helping to breathe new life into this old place. What more could you ask for?

Sounds like a good way to encourage some activity. I'm looking forward to seeing Aster's drawings for the winners.

I just thought I would throw this out there, but I've had an idea for awhile that I'm going to try and start on this week, if time allows.  Instead of just doing your average episode review, I want to provide a commentary on each episode that documents the 90's pop culture references to help provide a time capsule of sorts for the show.  I know it's not necessarily anything someone couldn't do with wikipedia, but presumably there will be new fans who find the show and I think it might be useful.  I was debating whether to just do a text only post here, or maybe a WordPress blog that I could embed images and videos into, but I'll wait and see how I feel about it when I finish the first one.

As a side note, if only I hadn't broken my wrist as a kid I would love to help with fan art, but I just can't darn it... Undecided

I'm glad to see that there are some responses, but I was hoping for more of a turnout than this. I guess we'll see what happens as time goes on. And another thing, now that I have an idea of how much the SPC DVDs will cost... I may end up extending the deadline too. I want to see if prices drop to a more reasonable amount. I'm not backing out of this thing yet, but it did make me cringe a little.

That actually sounds really cool and I'm looking forward to what you come up with.

Well, that's no fun. Sorry to hear that.

So.... no posts in this thread yet about qualification with links, though I'm fairly certain a few people have already become eligible, since there are a number of ways to do so.

If any of you are reading this, you may want to double check your recent activity dating back to when this thread was started to see if you qualify!

That is all. :7

Well, then. The end of July draws near and some of the people who pre-ordered their SPC DVDs already have them. Yet I still don't see any posts here with proof of eligibility for the contest. Disappointing turnout. Undecided I can extend the deadline, but that does no good if there aren't enough people participating or even showing interest. What should I do, you guys?

After reading some recent posts, it seems that felineki, with his new MIDI, and Clover, with her SPC-style Animal Crossing outfit, could be eligible for the Grand Prize, but I'd prefer that people submit their own work instead of me scouring the forums for it. And two people aren't enough participants, anyway, so if you want a shot at this thing, now's the time to get started.

I forgot there was a contest, I just like making outfits and I didn't see any SPC related ones anywhere!

I figured I may as well submit officially even if the contest doesn't work out.  I was going to suggest extending the deadline a bit since the forums seem to move even it is at a glacial pace but I noticed that you made that first post in April  Embarrassed.

I suppose I'll go ahead and officially submit my MIDI as well. Maybe I'll see if I can get another one made before the deadline, too.

Oh well, at least your judges don't bail by the dozen when you organise a contest Tongue
