Yah!  We should privitize our health care. Sure our health care is free, but the goverment is so inefficient with it. We should still keep the free health care so everyone rich or poor can have health care but also have a private competing market so we can have some improved services.

I'm going to have to disagree with privitization.
Privitization has one motive in mind:  profit.  In order to keep profits high for investors and shareholders, some costs must be cut SOMEwhere.  Whether it be laying off needed nurses, closing hospital beds, or downright denying access to advanced equipment, those actions would, in turn, promote inefficiency.
One simple solution?  Allocate more funds to healthcare services in both provincial and federal budgets.  Instead of giving huge corporate tax cuts and subsidies (as well as bailouts for branch plant US corporations operating in BC), that money could be used WAY more effectively for health care and other aspects of the welfare state.

Me too.  Born and raised in Kelowna, BC.

Is it just me or is Stephen Harper probably the worst thing for Canada?  Smiley

Actually, no.

He's putting more money into the Police forces across Canada, and since I'm going to become an OPP Officer, that's a GOOD thing for me.

Perhaps, but he's also moving for integration with the United States, slashed funding for Medicare (he is quite outspoken against public health), and is dismatling Canada's now-fragile welfare state.  While I do agree that police funding is needed, I also believe that welfare state economics must be preserved, and that much more money is needed for our dying healthcare system, public education, and other aspects of the welfare state.
While I'm not going to say anything negative about your choice to be an officer for the Ontario Provincial Police, I still strongly oppose Stephen Harper and his party's direction and platform.  I'm friends with a lot of police officers and former soldiers in my town, and the majority of them support the idea of slashing funds from other sectors in order to raise spending for the police and military.  It's easy for them to support public spending cuts when they have coverage under the government, but for the average worker, farmer, etc in Canada, the new budget is definitely a bad thing.

Indeed he is.  He is one of the most outspoken anti-Medicare critics in Canada (as evident by his membership with the National Citizen's Coalition).  You should pick up Maude Barlow's book "Too Close for Comfort: Canada's Future Within Fortress north America".  Both the Liberals AND Conservatives are pushing for a US-like private system.

Or check out the Council of Canadians website at:  www.canadians.org

So you're from Terrace, eh?  My cousin lives there.  Do you know a Derek Itani?
