Here's the /Film update on it.

OMG J.K. Simmons is voicing this as well. This just keeps getting better.

Also, thanks Tigriss for posting a much better quality video.

I can't say I've followed the series, so would someone be so kind to point out if this is supposed to be a sequel to the original series?
I'm currently interested from the story & chronology aspect.

As far as everything goes, it looks pretty decent at this point in time.
I'm glad you fans have something nice to look forward to especially after the movie letdown. ^_^

Yes, this is a direct sequel to the original series. It stars the next in line Avatar.

The creators of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” say that the new spinoff series “The Legend of Korra” will be more mature than the original show, but will still have the same sense of fun and adventure.

The first series took place in a world in which supernatural “benders” have the ability to manipulate the elements of air, earth, fire and water, and focused on Aang, a young airbender who turned out to be the Avatar, a person capable of controlling all the elements. The new series takes place 70 years later in the same world and follows the new Avatar, a teen girl named Korra who has learned to bend earth, water and fire and seeks to master air under the tutelage of Aang’s son, Tenzin.

Copied from this article, which is a little old, but has some nice dialogue with Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the creators. http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/07/21/legend-of-korra-the-creators-of-avatar-the-last-airbender-on-the-new-spinoff/

I assumed it would be, since they were originally only going to have 12 episodes but Nickelodeon got them to tack on a bunch more (24+?).

Having the series be delayed isn't such a bad thing... that gives the animators and writers more time to do a good job, instead of rushing through and settling for lesser quality.

Good point. And they make more hype that way, more hype, more viewers.

Slow Aster is slow. Polly Wink But that's okay, anything by Booter-Freak is always good for a laugh.

The series has been delayed till 2013...

I don't think that's been confirmed at this point, but I'm going to be ticked if it is. I could handle waiting til 2012, but 2013 is just crazy. And from the way they were talking about the show earlier, it didn't sound like there were any causes for a major delay like that, unless Nickelodeon is being stupid again.

Today I served a lady with her own custom made avatar shirt. She had hand-stitched tiny representations of katara, sokka, ang, toph, and zuko. Looked almost like game sprites.
