her left hand is behind her back, you can sorta see the dark grey outline of her glove. if i remember correctly, he did this real quick in one of the first versions of corel draw, but colleen is definitely a little on the buff side. awesome regardless.

OK, new post. for whatever reason it hit me at work yesterday - Mapletown. I'll bet the only one on this board who remembers Mapletown could be Vi, but since Mapletown and SPC have some resemblances, I thought I'd bring it back anyway.

Mapletown is like SPC in that it's a japanese animation by Saban revolving around a community of anthro animals, who even have similar features to our favorite mechanical critters. If you watch the show, they have some of the same mannerisms and the animation is almost identical. Even the sound effects/music sounds similar at times, and there are characters in Mapletown that have a status to those in SPC. Take a look, see what I mean.

i wish i could have found another episode but it seems like a hard-to-find series. I barely remembered it.

The same voice actress who played Deedee also played Lala on Mapletown, and Naoki Tatsuta, who played Jerry Atric did the part of Youta from Mapletown too.

Just barely though, I was very little back then. As soon as you mentioned 'Mapletown', I had a feeling I heard it somewhere...

Let's see, without even looking past a few seconds of that video, I'd like to see how much I can remember of that show... It had a rabbit girl, a snobby fox girl, some boy bear and a thief dude... I think he was a thief... I remember one episode where there was a heat wave and the rabbit girl ended up getting some kinda heat exhaustion while trying to take a pail of water somewhere...

I'll watch the video later to see how well my memory measures up. Goodness, this really digs up long-buried memories I forgot I even had...and I never would've thought it'd have any connections to SPC!

Yep, I'm a Mapletown fan!  There's also a squeal series called Palmtown (which I actually like even more).  But they are both really hard to find.    I only have a few episodes in Japanese on VHS.  The English dub sounds kinda SPC-ish, I wonder if it was done by the same Canadian studio that dubbed the voices for SPC?

This brings me to think of something that has been bugging me for years. SPC was the first anime I've seen. Dragonball was my second. I usually tell people that Sailor Moon was my third, but it really isn't. That's because I can't remember the name of the third one. Finially I've thought to ask about it.

It was centered around a little frog and his friends. Judging by the animation style, it was definitely geared toward a younger audience than SPC. I'm talking pre-school stuff. But as we all know, Japanese cartoons, even the pre-school stuff, can be real smart s*** with deep characters with emotion and crap like that.

The only title that sticks in my mind is "Kerupo". I don't really think it's that, but it's similar. Definitely started with a "K"

And to Vi:  Yeah, I had no idea that it had ANY relation whatsoever to SPC until I rewatched a clip from youtube a couple days ago and noticed the startling similarities. And I agree that it sounds like it could be from the same Canadian studio, which made me do some research into it to find out if I was right. I had a feeling you would remember it! Never heard of PalmTown though. Looks really cute!

Yes, yes that would be the one. I can't remember it being from Hello Kitty. Now that you mention it, it did air very closely with a Hello Kitty anime. It might have been part of the same show. Your guess/knowledge is as good as mine, if not better.

Does anyone remember one called Patrol 03? It was about anthromorphic animal cops working with the mayor to foil the plans of the corrupt police cheif Pamela. The series was rather light hearted and featured some of the voices for SPC. I know that Mayor Walrus has Guru Lou's voice, and Shorty sounds like a younger General Catton.
